Huh, that's odd. Rust has definitely been around longer, but ARK is the new hotness as far as Steam games go.

It's one of the most popular PC games out right now. If you don't know ARK, you've probably heard of Minecraft, at least. There's less digging involved and it's more PvP/survival based, but the base model of gathering resources, crafting tools, building a base, and exploring is pretty similar.

Does this break the rule? I posted one comment in the thread, but it wasn't really part of the drama.

It really depends on a prof-to-prof basis, but given that it's a job I'd probably guess they're more likely to help.

[–]Cupinacup 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

In this case, it's probably best to err on the side of caution. It's perfectly possible the TA is just being friendly because they're excited someone else is interested in their research and just don't know they're overstepping their boundaries, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I don't really follow NDT but from what I've heard he's pretty good at correcting himself. Like he used to be anti-GMO but then some folks came along and showed him the science behind it and he fixed his views.

Neil's (we're buddies, I call him Neil, you can trust me) main job is science outreach, mainly in physics and astronomy. He does that really well. Unfortunately, sometimes when he steps outside his realm of expertise people expect him to be just as competent as before.

Sure he's wrong about history and biology from time to time, but I'd expect that. I wouldn't hold it against a historian for not knowing the difference between a Bose-Einstein condensate and a Fermionic condensate.
