Can we have one thread completely devoid of humanity? A bad part of me wants to vent...

That's more of a therapist-type situation. Seriously, paying someone to just listen and not judge you makes you feel a lot better. It's not fair to dump these opinions on people and expect them to look at you the same way after.

It's not unbridled glee at a husband and father dying of cancer at 46, but there is absolutely mixed emotions.

I didn't want him to die, but I wanted his ignorant, bully bullshit out of politics and disgraced. Since that apparently couldn't happen without his death... So fucking be it.

It's not any sort of victory I would choose myself over that vile, irredeemable, dangerous asshole, but I'll take it.

It's completely natural to have complex emotions about a complex situation. In your original comment you asked for a thread "completely devoid of humanity", I suggested you see a therapist because they will let you say whatever you want to say without judgement. You can insert your own humanity and temper your emotions as much as you like without fearing you'll be persecuted for having such thoughts.

It was a bit of a joke, but I appreciate your suggestion.

I keep hearing Rofo's speech about having no sympathy for cyclists being killed and injured repeating in my head.

He's definitely said a lot of fucked up things.

I don't go so far as to LOL at this but /u/subwaysx3 sums up the ROFO shit very nicely.

The guy is a fucking monster abuser and ignorant sociopath.

Yea. I personally find no joy or glee or celebration to be had in any kind of death, nor do I like to use death as a reason to jerk about comeuppances but Rob Ford is a person I've lost any amount of sympathy for, since he seemed to show none to seemingly half the city he was supposed to represent. I of course, didn't want him to die or suffer; I'd rather people like him change but that didn't happen and he spent 4 years too many in office, and if his untimely luck with cancer is what ultimately removed him from office, then so be it.

/u/subwaysx3 also nails it with this:

It's a twisted emotion of love, and hoping your parent will get better, because it's so joyful for 10% of the time, and 90% of the time it's sorrow and fear.

My dad is currently dying from pancreatic cancer that began in his colon caused by ALCOHOLISM. He went into remission in 2013 and was told to STOP DRINKING which he increased his drinking but would hide it and deny being drunk when like WE CAN FUCKING TELL DIPSHIT YOU'RE 70 YEARS OLD AND WASTED. He abuses my mom now and I tell her to leave and she won't. So I have major mixed emotions regarding his illness. My dad basically did it to himself, and I have a hard time having any sympathy for him but he's my dad so............

You don't have to feel anything for anyone if you don't want to feel it. If you do want to feel sympathy for him it doesn't have to take anything away from your other feelings about him. You can feel sympathy for him because of your shared humanity and nothing more.
