L'Equipe: Mourinho waiting for Woodward to have 'the guts' to sack LVG

French newspaper L'Equipe on Tuesday go over Jose Mourinho to Manchester United in quite some detail, and all the various claims which have been made. Manchester United have been expected by many to appoint Mourinho at various points since he was sacked by Chelsea after a terrible start to the season.

Louis van Gaal's poor campaign for Manchester United, which could still them get Champions League football, has helped Mourinho's ambitions rise of moving to Old Trafford, and L'Equipe feel that's long been his aim, not just since he left Chelsea in poor circumstances.

L'Equipe, like many people, believe some of the claims will be correct and many wide of the mark, even those which seemed well sourced. Various sides are sending out slants to make themselves look good, without too much concern for what contains the most truth.

Manchester United supporters are keen for any news any so when El Pais at the weekend once again claimed Mourinho has signed a pre contract agreement with the Premier League club, it was taken as something brand new, despite them reporting similar in February and other Spanish outlets, just as reliable, saying similar for even longer.

Whatever is printed, L'Equipe are correct to say Mourinho will have to wait for one important thing to happen at Manchester United: Ed Woodward to have the guts to actually go through with sacking Van Gaal.

And if Woodward fancies giving Van Gaal longer at the club, Manchester United qualifying for the Champions League will certainly help him in that regard.
