I really screwed up (self.ApplyingToCollege)

Somewhat of a clickbait.

I did not really look into college at all, and visited one: MIT. Wasn't expecting to get in, and i didn't, but i didn't apply anywhere else. Really not sure where to go from here, and although I would love to fix my awful highschool record for the next year apps, I don't think my parents are going to let that happen. Definitely hating myself for my record and not applying, but there's no one to blame but myself. Sort of a rant, sort of looking for advice? MIT seemed like a cool place, but again: I dindu nuffin in highschool.

Err...are you a senior? When you mean next year apps do you mean you'll be a senior next year or you'll apply for transfer? Also, "didn't apply anywhere else" as in literally or didn't apply to anything besides safeties?

Advice: if you're a junior, work on a better senior year with good grades and extracurriculars. Work on breaking 2100 SAT if you want to try for MIT again (yes, people get in with lower but it doesn't hurt to have a higher score).

If you're a senior and literally have no college to go to, try looking for some colleges in the area that are still accepting applications, or look at a community college, then work on transferring to a state school (or better). State schools are generally pretty accepting of transfers from CCs in the area (there's likely a program set up already).

Could have specified, yes i am a senior graduating in may.

As in literally did not apply other places. I am not proud of that.

Hmm. Yea CC seems to be your best bet for now--get your gen ends done then transfer to a state school (some people knowingly choose to go that route so).

Hmm.. Yeah I guess that or find some place still accepting applications or don't do college? For now at least. I'm going to see who's accepting first of all. I appreciate the input.

Community college isn't that bad. You save up so much money, then if you do well, you can basically get into any university (that's not ivies, since they hardly accept transfers). There's also nothing wrong in going into a trade, but a college degree is a nice thing to have. CC will also give you more opportunities to explore different classes without killing you with debt.

I went the CC route.

can I ask why you did this?? Especially if you have an "awful highschool record"? I know you said in a different comment that you're "not proud" of the fact you only applied to MIT but you also said that you knew that you were going to be rejected so like...

bro. some schools don't even require supplements. you would've just had to fill out the common app (which does not take that long, especially considering you probably had to write an essay for MIT that you probably would have been able to use as your personal statement for the common app). do you have college counselors at your school? did you tell your parents what you were doing?

Looking at one school and applying to only that school is never a good decision, especially when that school is one of the most selective schools in the country.
