Ok. Here I go.

Female tennis players are lucky. No other sport has managed to make the female version successful, widely watched and with big prize pots.

Somewhere out there is a female football (soccer) player just as talented and dedicated as Serena Williams who doesn't get paid much at all.

The mens game the past couple years helped, but the women's game for the 30 years before them, Chris Evert, Monica Seles, Pam Shriver, and Billie Jean, were trailbrazers who set the sport up in their own regard.

Yes men are better right, the WTA can be inconsistent and boring, but to invalidate all of the successes of the very hard-working women of the WTA who don't think about, don't attribute, and don't have anything to do with the men is dismissive of everything they've done and sexist because in this case the leagues are divided men vs women.

If he didn't say the "get on their knees and thank god" statement maybe you could argue he was just making an objective argument but that line really solidifies his (probably unintentional) sexist attitude.

So I guess Indian Wells should just drop the WTA then. Oh, but wait, they're making shitloads of money from it, so maybe he shouldn't act like he's doing them a favor?

Seriously, the men do tend to draw more people (especially Fed,Djok,Nadal) but I think most people would much rather go to a combined event.

I'm lucky enough to have a women's tournament very close to home, but if I'm going to travel It's probably not going to be to a men's only tournament unless it's specifically to see fed. Fed is an exception to men's tennis though. Stars like we are seeing today on the men's side are not the norm.

Agreed. He's a dick. I never said wta doesn't deserve it's success or place.

Just saying they're lucky that it worked out for them when every other sport has failed females.

We are all lucky by that measure then. Everyone successful has had a little bit of luck along the way. But this douche's comments imply that it was all luck for WTA player, not skill or hard work, and that is why it is sexist.

And it's totally impossible that women have anything to do with that?

Nooo.... You have to virtue signal. All animals are equal some just need extra protection.

Female tennis players are lucky.

They really are. I can't think of another pro male league that integrates their female counterpart league in this way, if only for specific events. Maybe the UFC? But even their, Ronda is an exception that proves the rule. She is probably one of the top 2 or 3 draws in the UFC, but after that, there's probably not another woman in the top 25.

No other sport has managed to make the female version successful

Lindsey Vonn, Allyson Felix, Missy Franklin... And I'm sure there are better examples. Thanks for the uneducated sexist comment yourself.

[–]arsefag 3ポイント4ポイント  (4子コメント)

I meant financially successful. Of course there are other sports where females have achieved fame and success. This Lindsey Vonn is extremely successful in her sport but all of her money will have come through sponsorship and advertisement deals. There are not massive pay outs from the sport itself. Actually most olympic sports are amateur so men don't do particularly well out of them either.

I'm asking someone to name another sport other than tennis that a woman can play at the top of the game and get paid $75 million dollars (Serena's total prize pay outs so far which by the way is 3rd in the all time rankings including men). To be fair, LPGA pays out fairly well.

As Serena is the highest paid female athlete in the world, I'm sure you can understand that question is... kind of pointless.

Most of sportsmen and women earnings come from sponsorship so that doesn't make a big difference in income share, may they play basketball or table tennis, but that's another debate.

My point is just that a lot of female athletes are financially successful so there is no reason to support the sexism that clueless CEO is showing off.

As Serena is the highest paid female athlete in the world,

She absolutely is not.

[–]yenox 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

Thanks for the facts. A lot of Maria's sponsors have dropped her since her drug test scandal if that's who you're thinking about. So yes she absolutely is, unless you have a better insight than Forbes or Fortune ofc.

No idea what you're talking about but okay maybe you expert you...
