There are a couple of decent pubs right near the stadium - one is a Wetherspoons called The Bishops Blaize, and another called The Trafford just across the road. Sam Platts is also about a 5 minute walk from the stadium. They're all your typical 'matchday pubs'. Use Google Maps to find them, they're not far off at all.

There is also a pub near Trafford Bar tram stop (about 10-15 minute walk from the stadium) called The Tollgate which is quite big.

Deansgate and/or Castlefield are 10 minutes on the tram, and Salford Quays isn't far off too if you just want a drink - but you won't really get matchday atmospheres in there.

This whole answer was about pubs in general rather than pubs showing the match. Probably just go into Manchester! The Courtyard (Chester Street) or The Footage (Grosvenor Street) are great on matchdays. Full of students which is a good laugh. You're best off getting any number of buses from Piccadilly Gardens and asking where All Saints Campus is - then getting off there. You can get the 41, 42, 43, 142, 143 and probably some other buses.

For city centre pubs you can try the following all within 10 mins walk of Piccadilly gardens

Seven Oaks - by China town, Utd pub Montpelliers in the NQ - hipster bar/pub Tibb st tavern in the NQ - really busy pub Sawyers Arms on deansgate - Utd pub White lion just off deansgate - Utd pub

Closer to OT lime bar shows games, not very pub or fan atmosphere but it works. Also Gary nevilles hotel football should show it.

I'd recommend going back to town though to avoid crazy traffic/crowds afterwards.

There arnt really any pubs really close to the ground that show football

The only pub I can Imagine close to the ground with the game on will be the Trafford on the corner of the A56 junction (near the Bishop Blaize) but Its not the nicest pubs.

Last time I was in Manchester for an away game (was last month) I went up to Deansgate and just walked in the first pub I found showing it.

I'm with you on this one. "Don't upvote" is almost always a shitlord way of begging for upvotes. Or it ends up that way even if OP doesn't want it.

Don't tell me what to do. Upvotes

lelelel max original.

If your post doesn't need upvotes, it won't get them. No need to put it in the title. ever.

Well for one, self posts don't give you karma so they aren't karma-whoring. Two, they probably didn't wanna crowd out the front page just in case it did get enough up-votes to be there. Just let the person tag their shit however they feel is necessary. Don't like it, down-vote and move on.

There was very little risk of a post asking if they should go to the pub pre-game was going to hog up the front page, but I've seen similarly inane questions do exactly that when they are "don't upvote"d. Sometimes OP is genuine, other times they are trying to game the system, either way it is better avoided.

I'd rather speak up for what I think is the good of the community than passively let it rot. I'm not losing my shit here, I haven't called OP Hilter; why shouldn't I comment.
