He picked his paint out before he drew this situation. The artist bears some responsibility here.

His subs on Thursday when we needed 3 goals is bad management, there is no defending Van Gaal

defending

That's what he tried to do.

It's not so black and white. Being a good or bad manager doesn't mean you'll always succeed or always fail. Circumstances have a lot to do with things. Sometimes certain jobs will illuminate your failings and some will highlight your strengths. The fact that he's had success before doesn't mean he'll automatically succeed here and if he's a failure here it doesn't mean that everything he did was wrong but it could mean that certain things didn't work out...

He was awful in his first Holland stint, awful in his second Barca stint and awful in his second season at Bayern

LVG has been terrible plenty times before and he's doing terrible here.

'Good' managers can be shit in certain appointments and good managers can one day turn into bad managers when time catches up to them

Man...I'd sure like to see the games you've been watching...I must have been watching another MANU team playing. Thanks I'll keep a watch out for this impostor team.

Well duh. But hes been terrible for us.

Yes, he is definitely not the reason our style hasn't improved since he arrived and we've overall been piss poor during his tenure here. Yep, definitely not his fault at all.

My god how is there still people defending him??! He could bring a gun to training and shoot 10 of our players and people would still defend him on here and say it was the players fault because they didn't understand the philosophy.

"and the players themselves are low on confidence or just don't care anymore."

Looking beyond every other issue, including the large amount of these posts that put forward no factual basis for anything, how is this not an indictment of his management?

You're right on time with this "holier than thou lvg is not at fault" thread.

He's been bad for us, that much is true regardless of his good record elsewhere. The two squad issues you mention are his doing, the injuries less so, but it's the job of the manager to instill confidence. Look at the teams Ferguson spurred on to win things when they were just better than average - that's confidence and good tactics - excellent management from the master. It can be argued that Louis Van Gaal has taken the team backwards with his squad reshaping.

There's no doubt that the Louis Van Gaal/Manchester United project has failed and it's about time he was shown the door. He definitely needs to be relieved of his duty in the summer. We need somebody who has either the experience of winning the PL, or somebody who has the ability to win the PL and someone we can look at to build a team. Jose Mourinho would be good for his ability to win things, but is a short term option and I'd be worried about his record on using youth players - but I do think Giggs could perform some sort of dual role championing our youth team and bridging the two. Pochettino is someone I've liked since his Southampton days, and he's done wonderful things with Spurs and he's matured into a great manager playing defensively solid but exciting football, with young British talent! Diego Simeone is someone I'd be looking at too.

I've drunkenly rambled on, but yeah he might have a great record and might not be a bad manager per se, but he's certainly been dog shit for us!

You could have waited until tomorrow at around 6pm gmt to post this.

Also, he got third place playing god awful football. Much like we are playing now.

EDIT: apart from defence, that Dutch team had quality. RVP, Robben, Memphis, Huntelaar...

Replacing Van Gaal right now would do nothing.

There's always 'The New Manager Effect'.

Look, we all know that LVG isn't an inherently bad manager (his resume speaks for itself), but it's not working out. A good manager plus a great club doesn't always equal success. It isn't math.
