Rooney, and it's not even close.

Rooney at his peak was a complete forward; explosive, fast, strong and versatile.

I watched that boy run through a Spurs defence with one defender hanging from each of his shoulders, and he still scored.

26 goals and 15 assists in 38 premier league games. As good as rooney might have been physically, he never had stats like that.

And therein lies the problem with basing a players performance purely on goals and assists.

Edit: Also, Rooney had 27 goals in 34 league game (11/12) and 26 goals in 32 games (09/10). The majority of other seasons he hasn't played as a no.9.

You can't really compare RVP and Rooney.

We experienced Rooneys peak for close to 10 years

RVP spent most his peaked years at arsenal and we only enjoyed 2 of those years.

2 years for us, he was quite good for Arsenal, just never won anything :P But all in all, I agree with you that Rooney was better

He had 1 outstanding season at Arsenal, came here, had 1 great season, then got hurt.

I think RVP's 2nd season with us was actually his beat goals/games ratio season, just a shame he was injured so much. We could have really used him.

Depends on whether you consider longevity to be a bonus to someone's "peak" or not.

If you do, Rooney wins outright.

But for Ferguson's last season Robin was a god. Everything he touched turned to gold.
