The Native Americans surely got some bullshit put on them in the 19th century, but smallpox was really what did most of the heavy lifting. So many of the Natives were dead by the time white people started showing up, that the Pilgrims thought all the roads and fields were cleared naturally and was their holy promised land.

They only really had their dicks put in the fire in North America from like 1820 to 1920 or so

South America has sort of a shittier history but still not all that long chronologically, and Asian flu and smallpox did the heavy lifting there too

Every person alive has ancestors who were both slaves and slave masters. Most people who were conquered didn't get what Native Americans get now in terms of no taxes and free college and what not. What happened to them was terrible, but it's better than it happening 700 years earlier by a Mongol horde.
