Lol. hilary or trump are a better alternative?

I'm not a Trump supporter, but he's a better choice than Sanders because he's not a fucking socialist.

Hillary is just a disingenuous fucking democrat.

Sanders' whole platform is about making the wealthy pay for committing the sin of being wealthy. This appeals to the layabouts, the freeloaders, the occupiers, and the millennials because being asked to pay their own way just isn't fair.

fucking socialist

Lol is that the best argument? There was a spiel a while ago where he tried to discuss economics and really flunked on it. But if he's a "socialist" because he has a plan to impose a 52% tax on anything above $10,000,000 income, then I'm a communist

Sanders calls himself a socialist. Why shouldn't I?

He says it as a title, you say it as an insult

you say it as an insult

Well, yeah...

Why shouldn't I?

Why is it an insult? It's just a belief that wealth should be distributed differently than it is now. It's okay to agree or disagree.

I use it as an insult because it's an ideology of punishing wealth, especially when it comes to the Bernie Bros.

I've never understood the hatred these people have for the wealthy. Why do they give a shit if someone is wealthy? It's not like there's a finite supply of dollars. If you come up with a good idea that will make a lot of dollars, more dollars will be printed to satisfy your demand.

I don't mind if people are wealthier for doing more valuable work, I just don't like the idea that people NEED to starve because they don't provide what we consider "value." Art is valuable and it can define a generation, but since we don't see any financial value in it, we turn a lot of would-be artists into doing different professions.

You should get a job that pays the bills, first. Art should be your hobby. You do it in your free time. Meanwhile you're working, paying your own way.

Problem solved, no?

It's about balance. Sure rewarding success is a good thing, but how can you justify some people having enough money to live 1000 lives while others don't have enough to live one?

I do think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of socialism in America too. Socialism is about giving workers control over the means of production. It's about rewarding the people who work to create the product that brings someone else success. We wouldn't get anywhere without the people who actually produce things yet they are given a pittance for what they do.

Personally I think capitalism is inherently evil. It allows for a system where there are a few people with everything and some people without anything at all. Bare in mind also that the majority of wealth comes through inheritance at this point. The people at the top of most companies certainly aren't being rewarded for having a good idea any more, they're being rewarded for being born into the right family.

Because it's their money.

If I have five cars, whether gained honestly or through nefarious means, do I have any moral obligation to give you one?

It's about rewarding the people who work to create the product that brings someone else success

Those people are rewarded every payday.

Bare in mind also that the majority of wealth comes through inheritance at this point

For argument's sake, let's assume this is true. What you're advocating is punishing people for finding themselves in circumstances beyond their control.

I guarantee you that if you were to find yourself in similar circumstances, you'd fight to keep every penny of your inheritance.

The US is already socialist. We give our veterans and officials healthcare.

You do know the difference between socialist and democratic socialist is about as big as the difference between apples and pineapples, right?

I don't give a shit about the differences. One wants to punish the wealthy. One wants to really punish the wealthy.

Sanders is too far to the left for my liking.

Let the wealthy be wealthy. It doesn't affect my bottom line. Live and let live.

Look at all the entitled people downvoting you. The fact is that socialism doesn't work. Well, at least until you run out of other people's money. Just look at Venezuela for the example of socialism in action. A black market for toilet paper!

http://i.imgur.com/9GAeJHo.png I took the liberty of highlighting the european-style democratic socialist countries. Seem pretty successful to me. Fact of the matter is, you hicks have no fucking idea about the outside world. I bet you have never even left your redneck state. The US is not the enviable utopia you believe. I would never want to raise a family there.

You're more ignorant and bigoted than you claim Americans are. You have no idea who I am or where I'm from. All those European socialist countries have had socialist policies come after economic prosperity. Prosperity that came from years of government not getting involved. Once the taxes and regulations started going up, the money started going down. Sweden is fucked. There you have refugees and migrants that are refusing to assimilate into Swedish culture and are raping women and getting away with it.

There's not a single country on Earth that's freer than the US.

Name one, dumbass. You can't.

Indonesia, Denmark, New Zealand.

Can you own guns in those countries?

I know you can drink you're favorite brew on the beach too! That's true freedom. Can't do that in the states.

By that measure I suppose 100% anarchy would be your ideal political system. Freedom is being able to take paid time off, be sure that you get health care when you need it, get paid maternity/paternity leave, being given a 3 month period to find a new job if you get laid off, etc. You really fall back to the fucking cliché "MURICA FREEDOM!!!"? What a mouthbreather.

Freedom is being allowed to fall flat on your ass if you want to. You can do that in the US.

Freedom is being allowed to voice unpopular opinions. You can do that in the US.

Freedom is being allowed to make as much money as you want. You can do that in the US.

Freedom is being allowed to defend yourself. You can do that in the US.

Minorities have a far better life in the US than any other country in the world. That's the reason so many of them risk their lives to reach our shores.

You're describing safety nets, not freedom. I'm not necessarily against a safety net, but we'll never agree on the size or scope.

You're right, it boils down to a question of size and scope. You have public schools, a large military, a police force, court system, medicaid, national highway system, etc. All "socialized" programmes for the benefit of all citizens. Adding higher education and health care to that list doesn't mean becoming a communist hell-hole. Stop being overly dramatic and saying Sanders would confiscate all wealth and divvy up every loaf of bread fairly.

Minorities have a far better life in the US than any other country in the world.

Sorry, you have no idea. Your minorities are poor and incarcerated. Safety nets have bearing on quality of life you know.

Freedom is being allowed to defend yourself. You can do that in the US.

You are allowed to do that everywhere. Difference is, the bad guys don't have guns either.

Freedom is being allowed to fall flat on your ass if you want to. You can do that in the US.

The right to be homeless, that's a novel selling point.

Freedom is being allowed to make as much money as you want. You can do that in the US.

You are allowed to do that everywhere in Europe also, of course. The difference is just the tax rate, which you also have. And are you seriously feeling sorry for someone with 5 billion dollars because he doesn't have 6 billion? Progressive taxation is standard in all western countries for a reason.

But this is probably the most retarded sub to have a political discussion in, so I'm out.

Bernie Bros in action.

I've been documenting their ilk over at /r/TheWorstGeneration.
