This week, Obama was the keynote speaker at the SXSW summit on curbing internet harassment. Representing #Gamergate, porn star, and anti-feminist, Mercedes Carrera was a speaker at the summit. Ironically, or perhaps hypocritically, Carrera was asked to leave for posting a video that harassed coordinator of the event Randi Harper. Unfortunately, Carrera has since taken the video off of youtube. Immediately following the porn star's harassment, like any good right wingers, the gamergaters justified her harassment with calls to "support free speech".
Republican campaign strategists would be wise to keep track of the #GamerGate "movement". Purportedly about "ethics in gaming journalism", these neo-reactionary neckbeards are very similar to their elder conservative brethren. They are hell bent on arguing that racism and sexism either don't exist at all or aren't that much of a problem. They ferociously defend the status quo. Just like on Fox News, they have a vendetta against anyone perceived to be a "cultural Marxist". Below is a comment from the Kotaku in Action reddit thread on gamergate. Luckily, I was actually able to find it on the anti-gamergate reddit subthread "gamerghazi". Have fun with this one. As someone once said on this subreddit, 'this is such a low hanging fruit it might as well be a tomato.
"A lying, corporatist president who has benefited from moral causes tied to political correctness such as reckless immigration (gotta get those free Mexican votes), unconstitutional abuse of power in the name of "equality," and trying to take peoples' guns away "for safety" (all of which point to him being authoritarian and make him an anti-American), is siding with the very same useful idiots that would give (and have been giving) he and his buddies in the government (on both sides of the aisle) absolute power? Well no fucking duh."
