It was a reckless challenge and I don't condone intentionally trying to injure a player (I don't think Basti was), but it sends a signal to his teammates. He will not accept having Liverpool playing tiki taka to the "hey's" of their fans at Old Trafford. It's an element I think the team have been missing so badly.

Uuuhh, everyone has bellies. Some bigger than others and when you're a professional athlete with a low percentage of body fat then it'll show easily. For reference, look up Gundogan when he was out injured for an extended amount of time a couple of years ago and he went back for training. Now, he had a belly.

It's the reason Carrick is so good though. He shields the back four extremely well and very rarely gets pulled out of position. Schweini will never be as good in a similar holding role because he chases the ball way too much. They're different players.
