This is excellent work, thank you for translating and getting it on here.

I would like to pick up on one thing - it always amuses me when they talk about home ownership or leases playing a part in transfer rumours. As if a footballer or manager earning millions and millions a year is going to sweat being tied to a six month lease, or trying to sell a house.

You could just imagine the BBC headline - "Kane's £60m transfer to Manchester United has fallen through when the chain for his house collapsed. Due to previous subsidence issues in the property, he will be unlikely to find a new buyer so will be staying at Spurs for the foreseeable future. There are hopes the deal can be resurrected in the January transfer window if he manages to fix the leak in the downstairs toilet"

Anyways...

Its actually quite common for clubs to sort out accommodation for the players until they find a place that suits them. They usually sign a lease to match the players initial contract duration. Source: My current boss previously managed properties in England and dealt with premier league teams when letting properties for their new players.

I spent 40 minutes translating this article

And still didn't want the link-karma? My man!

Very interesting read, and I'm very glad that the article highlights the difficulty of the decision for Woodward and co. Giggs is my favourite player ever, I have at least 5 of his jerseys, he is everything that is right about the club, and I really really wanted for him to take over for LVG, after the successful first season in charge. After this tumultuous second season, I'm just really not sure.

I would love for Giggs to take over, however I really sympathize for Woodward here. If another managerial appointment goes wrong, he will be sacked, and the club will distance themselves even further from the top clubs in England and Europe. The club needs success, even if it is a bit short sighted. We are Manchester United, we can't go 4 or 5 or 6 years without winning a title and competing in Europe.

Mourinho would bring success, which is what we need right now. Ideally Giggs will be happy to stay for another 3 or 4 years, until Mourinho burns out. Unlikely that he will accept that though. Very tough decision for Woodward coming up, but even as a huge Giggs fan, I think Mourinho is the right choice.

Giggs is simply a gamble we can't afford to take right now. We're not in any sort of ascendency, we need someone proven to make us relevant again - at least for a season or two. If Giggs wants what's best for the club then hopefully he'll see that and possibly see it as an opportunity to learn from Mourinho.

Imagine a world where your employer tells you "yeah just hang out a bit, learn the ropes and in a few years the job will be yours", so you do that. Your boss gets fired.

"The timing still isn't quite right, just give us a bit longer" so you stay in your job for another two years, turning down better job offers from other companies because you're a loyal man and surely your employer wouldn't do something like go back on their word. A few months later your boss gets fired again.

So the big day comes, boss calls you into his office "So Bonorcrown, I know we promised you the big promotion three years ago but we've decided to go with an outside hire"

Obviously the pragmatist in everyone wants Mou but to treat one of the greatest servants to the club ever in such a manner is really appalling and almost harder for me to swallow than the idea of finishing mid-table for a couple of years.

Bringing in a big name doesn't guarantee anything; in the 69-70 season United finished 8th and halfway through the following year we sent mcguinness back to managing the reserves, Matt Busby, Manchester United personified came back to manage the team and we finished 8th again.

On a more serious note, extremely good translation. And this is a good read that explains quite a few of the indecipherable events unfolding at Old Trafford.

It is rumored that Giggs has been asked if he is willing to continue as an assistant under a new manager, but he has refused.

I feel like the answer might have to be Giggs swallowing his pride for another year or two under Mourinho or going elsewhere. I cannot envisage Woodward having the balls to go another two years without any trophies having passed up on the manager who is arguably the most likely ever to win you them. If a drawback for Mourinho is that he would have to spend big, imagine what an inexperienced coach like Giggs would need to boost the squad.

Also if Woodward is looking at Pochetinno... he is only 2 years older than Giggs and retired a lot earlier. If Giggs takes control of another premier league team and impresses like the recently retired player that is Pochetinno is then sign him up after Mourinho.

How about a solution to the Giggs vs Mou thing. What if we sack LVG, and if Giggs saves our champions League, he can stay, if not, then we get Mou?

This just sounds like that other forum's article where they just compiled bullshit from recent years

Well, you have to pay to be a member of the Scandinavian supporters club, which gives you access to these articles. They have Solskjaer and Giggs as special members of the supporters club, up until recently having Giggs write his own column in every monthly magazine, getting exclusive interviews and articles from players and staff. In this case, that means that the journalism keeps a high level, and that simple rumours never gets mentioned. This article features all things that the editor knows from his sources that are more or less true, in an effort to summarize what is going on at the moment among all Twitter rumours and speculations.

Im leaning SLIGHTLY towards Giggs mainly because I believe that IF Giggs is successful we will have a manager for (possibly) decades. Maybe wishfull thinking, i dont know. If mou gets appointed, and he is successful we have a manager for 3 years, then its the same thing again, and imagine seeing Giggs take over Southampton after Koeman takes over after Wenger and is really really successfull there.

OP, Thank you for your hard work for translating this.

In my opinion if Ryan Giggs became the next Manchester United manager he would be eaten alive. Next season he has to go against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. As a Manchester United fan, this worries me a lot. With Ryan Giggs at the helm, I doubt we would win any titles. He is the wrong man for the job… at the moment.

Everybody keeps talking about the Celtic job in Scotland. Ryan should take this. Why? Well, it’s hard to go wrong. The teams only challenger this year is Aberdeen and Celtic have been one of the most biggest names in Scottish football for decades. He takes over, they do well and Ryan builds a profile. But, it is his decision. At the end of the day, he needs experience at another club.

The arguments for Pep Guardiola are completely different. I believe that Pep has not been challenged, every club he has managed he has had a championship winning team. Barcelona, Bayern Munich. I don’t think he will find it easy at Manchester City, but if he pulls it off, then we will see his true worth. Comparing the current Manchester United squad with that of the Barcelona squad Pep Guardiola took over is like comparing chalk and cheese. Two completely different teams, one team at a high level, just need little adjustments to be made to become giants of football. The other has no direction, no purpose at the moment. What team are we? I’m confused as a fan.

If we appoint Ryan Giggs as our next Manchester United manager, it would be one of the worst moves we make as a club. To the point that, there are more reasons not to hire him, than there are to hire him.

The obvious candidate is Jose Mourinho. Why Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton don’t want Jose Mourinho as the next manager is beyond me. Perhaps Sir Alex is afraid Jose will surpass his legacy? Because that’s the only thing I can think of. If Jose Mourinho becomes our next manager, we will win games, he will give our team direction and purpose again. He will give us a reason to play. The past few years under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal we’ve had no identity, no reason to play. Mr. Mourinho will bring an identity. I can only assume Sir Alex and Sir Bobby want to hurt the future of our club if they are in favour of Ryan Giggs. It makes no sense. We see Sir Alex at games looking miserable and unhappy, yet in order to win games and rebuild Manchester United, Jose Mourinho is the answer, not Ryan Giggs. The only player I can perhaps understand wanting to play for Ryan Giggs is Gareth Bale. Other than that, I am unsure. Yet, how many world class players would jump at the chance to play for Jose Mourinho? It just doesn’t make sense to me that Sir Alex and Sir Bobby don’t want Jose Mourinho - a winner, like themselves, to come in and direct Manchester United to victory.

Thankfully it’s not up to them. Ed Woodward, needs to say thank you to Sir Alex, thank you to Sir Bobby and thank you to Ryan Giggs for all their hard work they’ve done for the club. But is his decision and the right decision is hiring Jose Mourinho. If Ed Woodward gets this decision wrong, it could prove devastating for the club and his job may be on the line. Adidas have said they will cut their sponsorship deal if Manchester United’s poor performance continues in Europe. With Ryan Giggs at the helm, this is almost a certain. He is not a world class manager, he has no experience and he expects to go up against the biggest, best teams in the world? He has no chance.

Fergie being worried that Mourinho would surpass his legacy? Are you fucking retarded? I know you were being facetious but still

[–]tartanbornandred 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Why Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton don’t want Jose Mourinho as the next manager is beyond me. Perhaps Sir Alex is afraid Jose will surpass his legacy? Because that’s the only thing I can think of

It is quite simple: 1) Mourinho makes no effort to develop youth players. Developing youth players is key to United's identity and home grown players are integral to all truly great sides. Appointing Mourinho would therefore mean going against both the club's identity, and the proven formula for sustained success, in order to chase some short term success; this is a small time approach. You talk about Mourinho bringing an identity; we have a strong identity and Mourinho is the antithesis of it.

2) Mourinho is a proven cunt. The eye poking, the doctor bullying, the sulking, the pathetic nonsense press conferences and post match interviews; he is a weak person. And in no way is he just a cunt in the way opposing fans might say Fergie was a cunt, or how it would be different if he was our cunt and behaving that way to benefit our club, no; he is just an awful person and would be an embarrassment to us.

That you can suggest Fergie would be afraid of Mourinho surpassing him just shows how incredibly badly you understand any of what you are talking about. You say thankfully it is not up to Fergie and Sir Bobby; I say thankfully it is not up to clueless fans like you who no nothing about who United are.
