There's a chance you've never had a good avocado. I didn't understand the appeal of avocados until I moved to California; now they're one of my favorite fruits.

Could very well be, the slimy oily texture is the first thing that hits me as unpleasant. But even when I get past that, the taste is too bland to even bother getting over the first hurdle.

Sounds exactly like all the avocados I had as a child.I wouldn't bother with those but, if you ever get the chance, you should definitely try a fresh one.
