You mean in the same way being straight is completely pointless to his character? I wasn't "pushing an agenda". I just felt like Dexter was gay when I was playing as him. Also, I am gay myself and I usually play as people who are a little like me.

In addition, real life isn't all white male and heterosexual, so neither should fiction.
