Here's the thing: they still clutter the front page of the sub.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I come here for High Energy Memes and open discussion of the issues which come up during this campaign season. Posting every one of these individual examples of people venting their own frustrations, insecurities, and prejudices is just giving them a wider platform.

I for one tend to think that sharing these things both clutters this sub and potentially violates their privacy. How? Well I don't follow these people, presumably the people who do so are actual friends or whatever, so they feel as if they are posting to a private or semi-private group. I don't know, sharing their information creeps me out almost as much as their own stupidity makes me want to smash my head into a wall.

If you feel the threat is or may be legitimate, well don't waste time and bandwith posting about it here. Twitter has a built in system to deal with this kind of crap, and if they don't remove it then forward it to the local police department, the FBI, or the Secret Service instead. Or contact that person directly if you know them and calmly, politely, and privately explain to them that they are making a mistake that might ruin their own life. Be a uniter, be a good citizen, and not a divider.

Let's be real here, at the end of this election we are, most of us, still American citizens, or striving to become American citizens. If someone makes a shit post in a fit of emotion, maybe they'll delete it when prompted in a fit of reason? I don't think that giving these people a larger platform to incite a counter-reaction from "the right" and potentially inspire copy-cat statements on "the left" is producing anything other than a distraction from the actual policy debate that ought to be taking place.

Don't we mostly agree, "left" and/or "right," that the mainstream media spins and spins and spins everyone around and that's how we get to this point? I went to Trump's website by myself a few months ago to read his policy ideas for myself and that's why I come here, read the sub, watch a speech here and there, and make comments. I do the same over at B4P, although I feel more comfortable posting here because it's easier to actually have a conversation here.

I have actually received threats against my family in my inbox since I began posting here, but do you see a screenshot of it on the front page? No, because I just report that kind of thing to the admins and go about my business.

These people are all talk, no action. All controlled by the mouthpieces of lobbyists and donors who manipulate them with wedges made of social and identity political issues that mean nothing. The threats that Trump needs to worry about are the ones that won't be announced on Twitter, and honestly? Flooding the FBI and Secret Service with these reports makes their job of protecting ALL of the candidates harder.

TL;DR, report this shit to Twitter, or message the person if you personally know them, and then MoveOn.org. Don't flood the feed with anything except policy discussion, hype threads, and High Energy Memes.
