Tourist fry.

Fucking frozen factory hash browns and baked beans in a little pot? Was this served at a supermarket cafe or a motorway services?

Don't get me wrong, I'll eat that shit all day (geddit?) but I don't need to look at a picture of it. It's completely unremarkable cheap shit food.

Your comment helped my own rage subside. Thanks

Every time someone posts "A Full Irish Breakfast" - I can't wait to find out why it's trash in the comments.

I am yet to see a "A Full Irish Breakfast" that is considered "good" by everyone here.

This one's pretty stingy.

Can I see a pic of a "good one?"

Does it exist? Or is it like a unicorn?

I don't think we generally take pictures of them, some I've had here would have 3 fried eggs, scrambled eggs, loads of beans, mushrooms etc. Roast potatoes, hash browns, tomato, sausages, rasher, pudding., toast, soda bread, potato bread. That little pot of beans is lol.

Can you take a pic when you see a good one next time?

[–]Reformed_Lothario -1ポイント0ポイント  (3子コメント)

Just search this subreddit, pics of "Irish breakfast" are posted weekly.

Every single one is picked apart in the comments, and declared to be wrong.

But after looking at multiple pictures of them, you eventually get the right idea. It isn't perfect, but it is better than trying to google for one. Everyone is going to have their own interpretation.

That sounds like an insane amount of food.

It is, I'd say he's just remembering several breakfasts he's had and lumping them all together. You can add potato farls to that list too. Sometimes, in big families, you might see all those things but you can barely have a small portion of each them.

I will never understand beans as a breakfast food

I don't think we generally take pictures of them,

Is it because you're embarrassed because your camera phones are potatoes?

My guess is that they do exist, at least for a little while before they're consumed. Granted, for a pic to be taken, I supposed it would have to be done almost immediately after the meal is prepared, before its gone

Where is the fried tomato?

Commenters here would declare this ruined forever.

Haha maybe theyre like me and asked for no tomato. Am I a heathen??

According to commenters here, probably.

As a side note, it's kind of messed up that I never had an Irish Breakfast, but know what's "supposed" to be in it.

My wife had a full aussie breakfast om sat that was at least 100 times better than this one. But then that cost $21 and this prob cost bout €3.50.

3.50?

A perfect full breakfast must be as rare as the Loch Ness Monster.

[–]Imapie 2

Nothing particularly wrong without other than its utter unremarkableness.

I don't know how large a full 'Irish breakfast' is but everytime one is posted on Reddit there are at least 15 things missing according to the posters.

That's a hotel breakfast if I've ever seen one. The torturously small puddings give it away before you notice the butter packet things alongside it.

It's about as Irish as a Toronto St. Patty's Day Parade.

That's because most tourists try the puddings and either don't like them, or like them but as soon as they discover what's in them, decide they don't like them.

I am proud to say that when I was a tourist in Ireland not only did I like it, but I went To the market and bought a pound to make for myself.

Yeah, us Portuguese love us some blood sausage so blood pudding is right up my alley.

Tell an American what black pudding is and they won't want anymore.

I know, I bet the guy who made that hasn't even beat his wife today.

Cough - Paddy - Cough

How the fuck did I miss that....

[–]Imapie 2

You'll have to argue that out with the guy who's sure it's from an airport. Both equally likely, I'd say.

Went through a tiny airport called Shannon Airport in Ireland a couple times and had a breakfast identical to this.

:/ how can people look at food and be so angry

When cheap, poor quality, supermarket food is promoted as being Irish (or insert any nationality here) it insults the people (and food) of that country. Tourists are often unaware when they are sold poor quality food.

Don't take it so seriously, friend. We're all just play acting for fun.

British Islanders are generally grumpy people...

Hrm, bit harsh. As fried breakfasts go, its quite a pretty one. The poached eggs have been cooked really nicely

Personally though, I'd prefer to eat an ugly mess of shit. Because a fried breakfast isn't really intended to look pretty

[–]Imapie 7

The plates are clean, but it's still that cheap mega salty bacon and hash browns out of a packet. It wasn't meant to be harsh. I'd swallow that whole in about eight hours time. It's just a bloody daft thing to take a picture of.

I dunno, I guess I see things differently.

In a subreddit such as /r/food, if there is something I'd like to eat, its fair game for a photo.

And for all its flaws, I'd quite like to eat that.

[–]Imapie 4

Yeah, I bet it'd be nice. It's just a really unremarkable example of what it's meant to be, and therefore a shame for foodies to see it and think it's a good example, thus allowing them to accept mediocrity should they travel to Ireland and sample a cooked breakfast.

It's like taking a photo at Denny's. I'm sure he food was nice, but we can all aspire to something a little more.

You could be the one to set the record straight....

[–]Imapie 0

Fukn a. Start by having black and white pudding where d>1".

I agree. I don't have a problem with this in /r/food. It wouldn't belong somewhere like /r/foodporn though, obviously.

Aren't those fried eggs? Poached dont have the yolk exposed. Could just be a regional difference in terms though.

You know, now that you mention it, I'm not entirely sure how they have been cooked.

They have the rough form of poached eggs, but as you say, the yolks ought to be encased if that were the case.

Maybe they were fried, but placed in some sort of chefs ring to keep them round.

I still think they look kinda pretty though :-)

They are fried, we don't really poach them generally. Poached eggs and toast would be a separate dish.

They really look poached at first glance No, those are poached. Looks like maybe the water was too shallow and didn't cover the whole egg, or, that's just how the egg settled in the bottom of the pot, or it could have fallen off when transferring the egg to the plate. At the very least, I've had some of mine come out with yolk exposed like these here.

Then they're poached incorrectly, unless they're called something different in Ireland. Either one of us could be right, but it doesn't matter. Probably you're right, I just cook eggs for a living.

Yeah I zoomed in, the yolk does look too clear to have been poached, more like sunny side up and fried in an oval ring? When I say poached (I'm an American) I mean an egg poured into swirled, simmering water with a splash of vinegar.

They could also be smaller sized eggs. I think most Americans (and us Canadians, too) buy extra large or large grade eggs.

That's how I do it too. Even if someone gave me a beautifully arranged plate of fried breakfast, the first thing I do is stir it up into a big, hot mess.

The pot thing does always bother me. However it does avoid the whole argument of bean sauce touching egg yolk. I'm not a separatist for clarity.

I hate bean-sauce touching my egg. I dont know why, it just seems so wrong

When I cook it myself, I slowly cook the beans and sauce right down until they are almost congealed, and the sauce has all but evaporated.

This never wins any awards for presentation, but I really like the thick texture, and the way it doesn't shit its evil bean-juice all over the rest of my plate

Everything on the plate has it's own individual flavour, mixing them on the plate removes from this. I love my beans the way you described them, I also hated beans until I was about 20.

Up vote for evil bean juice.

I like having the texture of a bite of everything together

To each their own, you dirty heathen. A well cooked bean with a sausage or black pudding is ok though.

[–]Imapie 0

Beans that have been reduced by sitting congealing in a bamboree for a couple of hours in a Morrison's cafe or something are the best!

[–]Imapie 1

Extra pots drive me fucking mental. Particularly this idea that meat and gravy in a pot with a puff pastry lid is somehow a "Pie".

That's no fucking pie, friend. Ask every time. Is it a pie or meat soup with a flaky lid?

I agree, it's a stew with a lid. A pie should be fully enclosed in soft pastry, I'm not a fan of the type of pastry used in Meltons for example (Hot water pastry?) Although this may be the same pastry I like but colder and harder.

Yeah man, I lived in London for a few years and really took a liking to pies. I would always get frustrated when I got stew with what was obviously a frozen lid that had been microwaved.

Pieminister pies were pretty legit as far as something you could take away.

Mince beef and onion pie is what it's about in the north east. I asked for it once in a shop down south and he replied "nah mate, we only do them at Christmas"

Cue my confusion until I realised he thought I meant sweet mince pies.

Haha thats funny, mince pies are pretty good as well :)

My favorite is probably steak and ale pie. Although pieminister had a green curry chicken one that was very tasty as well.

Of course you gotta have your pies with mushy peas and mash as well.

...now i'm hungry

Oh fuck man I just came back from five months in Italy, and mushy peas wans't even a concept there. I'm gonna bake a pie tomorrow now!

Haha awesome. I live in the states now and cant get a proper pie or fish and chips to save my life.

You are right to. So much to answer for.

I had that exact breakfast at my hotel in Dublin. It was good - the blood sausage I really liked - but I wasn't a huge fan of the super salty bacon rashers. Also, the packets of "Brown Sauce" made me giggle.

Then the locals introduced me to Breakfast Rolls. Basically a sub with an entire breakfast in it. So fucking good when hungover.

If you ever get the chance, try to source some Clonakilty black pudding, when fried it takes on the most unctuous sheen, it glistens with flavour and almost falls apart on your fork.

Stornaway Black is by far the superior pudding.

You may be right my friend, I haven't tried it although I shall make a point to do so if I get the chance, I do hear Bury black pudding is good also.

    http://www.charlesmacleod.co.uk

There you go! I've not yet found a pudding to rival it, though I shall search out yours

I've put together a small order, I'll ring in the morning to arrange the carriage price as I'm in NI.

Shit. They don't deliver to the States.

When I was living in London there was an Irish butcher I'd go to that made amazing black budding. I truly miss it.

I haven't found any good sources of black pudding here in the States.

I was always under the impression it was a banned product due to what was in it? Much like Haggis.

Polish people make some amazing blood sausage. If you find a Polish (or even Ukrainian or Russian) imports grocery store, they'll probably have some!

Shoot I'd love to try this (I'm in the US) since I've never had the pleasure but they don't ship to the colonies :(

This is the most appetizing I've ever heard anyone make black pudding. Or anything.

Now you're talkin'... blood puddin' and a pint of ale to cure the hangover.

Not even any blood pudding or whiskey. Fake post.

I'm 90% sure this is an airport breakfast.

Those hash browns are my favorite..

Yup delicious. Frozen and reheated and delicious.

This "full english" is literally the biggest shit show I've ever seen as far as a full english goes. Admittedly, my only experiences have been seeing pictures on reddit and salivating. It's like god created the perfect hangover food.

We had identical hash browns for lunch in my public school. They were awful 90% of the time since they were soggy and undercooked... but those few days when they were cooked fully they were so good. Super crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. I might need to go out and find some.

You seem to know what you're talking about, so can you tell me if black pudding is tasty? I'm very curious about this.

You condescending tart it doesn't look too bad Jesus

Cram it, bozo. I clearly said I'd suck that fucker down without thinking twice, I just think it's a daft thing to take a photo of. A really normal breakfast as eaten by millions across that archipelago that is unpopularity known as the British Isles every weekend.

It's not for you you tit. It's for those of us who haven't been on that part of the globe in years, and who wanted a little pang of remembrance.

    It's Jaysus if you're Irish.

    Not everyone is either:

    1. Fucking Gordon Ramsey level food critic

    2. Rich as fck

    3. Fortunate enough to even have access to that.

...I haven't had a breakfast like that in like 5 years. Sorry you were so 'offended'

Oh simmer down lad. If you can afford the device you typed that out on, you can afford this breakfast. It's just normal cheap food.

    Weatherspoons special

Jesus fucking Christ, you get black pudding and white pudding on the Irish Wetherspoons breakfast. You don't even get black pudding on the English version. Not where I am, anyway. That's the best bit of any breakfast. I'm slightly upset.

    slightly upset

Nope, fuck that. Came for the black pudding, I'm out.

As a tourist, I would sure as hell do better research than to end up with this.

I'd break into someone's house at breakfast time!

There's not even any potato bread or soda bread I'm offended tbqh

Can anyone post a photo of a true Irish breakfast then?
