Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke at a rally at Kansas City's Midland Theater on Saturday, but found himself interrupted by protesters inside the theater.
Supporters who stood in line for hours to get in said it was surprising to hear the speech interrupted at least 10 times. Some of the supporters said they think the protesters should be arrested.
"The protesters on the other side were not very nice, but all of Trump's people stood there quietly and did not retaliate," said Trump supporter Kim Green. "I think there's a lot of bad press because the people that love Trump just want to make America great again."
Trump started his speech about 30 minutes late after meeting with local Republican leaders. A few minutes into his speech, the first protesters stood up with signs saying Trump is bad for America. They also began chanting "Racism has got to go."
Trump had police escort the protesters out and continued with his speech. He said if elected president, he'd make courts tougher, improve the military, eliminate Common Core, build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico to control illegal immigration and add a 35 percent tax on imports.
"Every time you build a unit, an air conditioning unit, and bring it into the United States, that has to now go across real borders. You will pay a 35 percent tax. OK?" Trump said, to a roar of cheers.
Trump said that from now on, he plans to press charges against people who protest during his rallies. While it's questionable that anyone would be charged for exercising free speech, Trump's supporters said they like the idea because they don't like him being interrupted.
