Okay, maybe i need to explain this in detail:

Imagine standing 1 meter away from the mirror and looking right at the mirror. The difference in depth between your nose and your ear is something like 10 centimeter. So the difference between your eye seeing your nose at a distance of 2 meters and your eye seeing your ear at a distance of 2.1 meters is 5%. The more you move away from the mirror the less this difference will be.

Now imagine standing in front of the mirror at a distance of 10 centimeters. The way from your eye to the mirror and back to your nose is now 20 centimeter while the way from your eye to the mirror and back to your ear is 30 centimeter. So the difference is now 50% (instead of 5%!).

All this is happening with a flat mirror that doesn't distort. But still your nose will be much bigger compared to your whole face in comparison to you standing further away from the mirror.

To make things a bit easier I've drawn a cyclops that is looking at a flat mirror. And to visualize it better I've mirrored him to the other side of the mirror instead of letting the traces bounce back to him.

What do we see here?

In the left case what the cyclops sees in the mirror is his head at a width of 203 pixels. His eyeball is 43 pixels wide. That means that the width of his eyeball has 21.18% of the width of his head.

In the right case what the cyclops sees in the mirror is his head at a width of 133 pixels. His eyeball is 37 pixels wide. That means that the width of his eyeball has 27.82% of the width of his head.

This means that the eye will appear bigger because it is closer to the mirror despite the mirror being flat and there being no distortion of the mirror.

Your laws of reflection are of course followed here as evident by mirroring the cyclops to the other side and simply drawing straight lines.
