The blame and solution can be found in our cultures. In most Asian cultures including our brown brothers from India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, there is a lot of classicism in our cultures. Very superficial classicism. Historically lighter skin people are considered more attractive, as they used to indicate that they weren't of the lower class that worked and toiled on the fields in the baking sun. Usually the nobility stayed inside, while the lower people worked in the sun. That mentality basically still exists in Asia. The only people to blame for giving them white privilege is us.

Remember that study that said an Asian guy needs an income of $247,000 in additional income to have comparable results to a white/black guy? That same study (can't find the link) says when controlling for race, a guy who is 5'4" needs about $230,000 in extra income to be considered as eligible as someone who's 6'0"... If that study is to be believed you could be a 6'0", ripped Asian guy with a decent career and STILL lose out to a white loser, even if he's shorter than you.

Dating's not the only thing. Let's not forget that some companies in Asia basically have token-white-guy (aka Affirmative Action) jobs. I knew a white guy who was the head of an IT department despite having no degree, no work experience, and utter computer illiteracy. I'm talking about a guy who asks "how do you download facebook in Windows" kind of ineptitude. He made a solid upper-middle-class wage, not including bonuses.

I've lived in Asia for long enough to know that the "Loser Back Home" isn't a myth. I used to think so because I didn't know any better. Heck, it's well known that there are some LBH's who come to my country with the sole intent of knocking up clueless AF's to force her into marriage so he can get permanent residency and some cushy job. Perhaps not all the time, but even once is too much for me these days.

Sadly, a lot of these girls would otherwise be considered quite intelligent. My own sister - she's a post-doc in molecular biology, she rejected a lawyer (Asian) to date some barista loser (white). You know the fucked up part? Even the WHITE GUY'S OWN SISTER was like "don't date my brother, he's always been a loser" and said that she would have snatched up the Asian guy in a heartbeat. I don't know whether to look down on them or pity them for their bad choices. It's probably a combination of both.

So just thought I'd tell a story. Last month we got a call from a hapa female agent (AFWM) to cast some white actor in a short film. She assures us he speaks [language] and he's a great actor from the States. When he showed up he could nether act NOR speak a single word of [language] so we basically give him the "Thank you, we'll be in touch" kind of thing. Fast fwd to last week... we've been getting calls from the agent NEARLY EVERY SINGLE DAY demanding that we cast this guy... and not just as some side character for comic relief but in one of the major roles.
Gentlemen, I ask you: When was the last time you saw any AF in America go all out to help an Asian guy, whether it was getting a job or getting a role in the movie? This kind of shit is getting to be beyond rediculous.
