Hi, I have a random question that's been bothering me for a while (I don't know if you're still checking the kickstarter comments or if I would be better asking on the forums, but right now I don't feel like adding another set of login details for a website),
I was wondering if any thought or consideration has been given to it, or if perhaps nobody has even realised it's a potential problem for some users.
Having just read the 'user manual' that's on the website, it's made me somewhat more concerned than I already was.
The problem is I have very long fingernails. (my longest is about 1 cm).
Considering where the placement of the fingertip actuators should be on the fingertip for good results, I am concerned about whether I would be forced to cut my nails to use the glove correctly. While That's fine for the odd experiment, for extended use that's really irritating.
I keep my nails quite long for a reason (it's not an especially important reason, but still), so having to cut them to be able to use the gloves is problematic.
There's also a minor extra concern given how fragile the instructions claim the prototype is, about how likely it is my nails could damage the wiring in the fingers.
Anyway, do you have any thoughts on this? Is it likely to be an issue? Has it come up at all during testing of prototypes? Or is it perhaps something that no-one helping design the gloveOne had considered so far?
Just curious as to whether this is likely to be a problem or not, and if it is, whether any design changes (for final production models) would help at all without interfering with any other functionality.
Dear @Azael @Trystan @Pascal @James et al, update published yesterday. Before the month ends, there will be another update with awesome contents related to final specs!
We just published a huge update solving all doubts and telling what we have been doing all this time. Our most sincere apologies for all this time ... We think we had to have hired a Community Manager some time ago!
Now we promise a much more fluent updates for our loved bakers.
Many thanks for your patience!
Dear @Shannon Christie,
Of course we will add support for UE4, the main difference is that achieving this stretch goal we can join now an additional engineer in parallel with the current pipeline. Otherwise, it will be developed later when engineers finish current milestones.
It's time to pledge :)
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
NeuroDigital Team
Sorry if this was already answered but the Glove one that comes with the leap motion bundle does it also come with a holder so that you can put it onto your oculus rift?
For that High level task you must rely on Unity or UE4 capabilities as they are the game engines we currently are compatible with or will support if stretch goals are reached (UE4).
@lucyferror Talking about RRP, first thing to say is that probably there will be more than one version. The version we started the campaign with (Wireless, no finger tracking) and the final premium Kickstarter version that backers will receive (Wireless, Finger tracking with IMUs). The only thing we can say about prices it that final premium Kickstarter version will be more expensive than 199$ ... Actually we are not going to earn money with the campaign, only want to reach mass production status and take position in the market.
I think all backers should spread that message in order to reach some extra stretch goals and take into account they will receive a premium product at a ridiculous price. (Just take a look at other Non-Haptic Data Gloves)
BTW: Leap Motion and Intel RealSense are very useful even with the IMU version because you still will need to locate your hands blobs and it’s all done with them. The main difference is that this version will open doors for Mobile VR ;-) ... and more!
Dear all, @Timothy Low, @CURTROCK 8, @Gert Behrmann, @Mohamed AlRayes Thanks a lot!!!! We are very happy and looking forward to accomplish your expectations!
Holy sh!t !!! This morning funding was around $100K. I come home from work, and now it's funded over $150K? Amazing! Congrats, NeuroDigital. Very proud, and happy for you. Wishing you much success with GloveOne!
Calm down, we are more alive than ever! We are working very hard in order to become with an amazing update just to speed up the campaign.
FYI, at 5 PM Bay time we are appearing on Leap Motion's Twitch session with a real and live Gloveone demonstration about our SDK examples.
Today we will publish a big update talking about what is coming and new and strong partnerships.....Gamers....Gloveone is going to be your favorite gadget.
@NeuroDigital: Hey! Seems a little quiet. No updates? Videos? Comments? Have you given up? I'm hoping maybe you have gotten some sort of corporate backing, or an angel investor..Any news?
I hope this "Thunderclap" helps to get some fresh momentum going for this project. After seeing the Oculus "Touch" controller revealed at E3, I was happy that neither Oculus nor Valve are going for the GLOVE approach, for now. There is room & need for the GloveOne VR. With a flood of gimmicky VR products currently surfacing, the GloveOne stands out as something that can actually move the VR revolution forward. Good luck, NeuroDigital. VR needs a product like this ! :)
@Timothy Low - Ahh ok, thanks for the information :) i honestly didn't have a clue :P well it just shows that it pays to listen in class (like you did ;-D) and not sleep in class (like i did :P)
Thunderclap Update: 101% of goal supported of 101 supporters, SOCIAL REACH: 36,830 People, TIME LEFT: 5 days
Congrats everyone!
