Neither of these points can take into account the circumstances uner which people were "murdered" by police. Policeman aren't just walking around shooting random civilians, at least most of the time they're not. You can't have a discussion about the rate at which black people are killed by cops compared to other races without talking about the rate at which black people commit violent crimes.

Agreed. I think the biggest issue is that black people, most likely for socioeconomic reasons, commit more crime. The real issue is convincing more black fathers to stay with their families, creating better learning environments, and ending the gang culture that's developed in urban neighborhoods.

Exactly. Personally, I think we ought to abandon the whole "white/black/yellow/brown/green" thing and focus on the big picture, namely, poor and impoverished communities!

The problem is simple, but the solution is not. Unfortunately people often like to go for the simplest solution even if they aren't effective.

Aren't you innocent until proven guilty?

Not when you're a clear threat the cops pursuing you and/or the people around you. For example if you point a gun at someone do you really think a cop should wait to react because a judge or jury hasn't deemed him guilty yet? Obviously cops don't always make the right decisions but you have to admit there is times where lethal force is necessary.

Not if you're doing something that warrants deadly force. It's a last resort, and if you cannot be arrested (the whole point is to get you to trial) because you are a bodily threat, they will take necessary measures to stop you, including ending your life.

Exactly, it's supposed to be a last resort. That's supposed (because "movements" on the internet are often tainted by idiots) to be the idea behind Black Lives Matter, that black people deserve to live long enough to make it to court. The complaint was basically that unnecessary measures are being taken against generally non-threatening suspects.

Not if you attack a cop. Remember Ferguson?

Hopefully, but people who get shot by cops because the cops think they committed a crime is only one possible iteration of a scenario where a criminal or potential criminal can be killed by a cop.

.034% of blacks are murderers, so all blacks deserve to be treated like killers.

While this is correct, racial police brutality is the symptom of a systemic issue that has to do with institutionalized racism in America perpetrated and let happen by the white, powerful majority.

Black people commit more crimes and violent because that is the role that they have been given by "society"- lack of funding to their education and the consistent lack of opportunity, both financial and social. It is a problem that continues to perpetuate itself, with the people who have the power to help solve it usually simply standing by and watching: white people of power.

Yes.

In addition, the "unreported race" part really throws me off, because, sorry for being racist, but it's pretty easy to tell if someone is black or not, so I feel like there's a disproportionate amount of non-black people who fall under the "unreported race" category. Or maybe I'm a racist idiot who doesn't know how those things get reported.

Idk, unreported probably covers people of mixed race, for starters, which throws everything up in the air. The kind of cop who would treat a black person differently than a white person, is probably going to air on the side of black when presented with someone who looks like Barack Obama or Trevor Noah.
