Ya, Vietnamese had no chance against the American military

You're not wrong, we were likely months away from winning when we pulled out. We didn't lose the war because we couldn't, but because the American people's heart wasn't in it anymore.

You underestimate guerilla warfare and amount of soldiers unwilling to attack their own citizens. If the US implodes, the military won't necessarily be united.

No first world country has ever turned totalitarian, there's a good reason for that.

There are two scenarios: the military is not sympathetic to the rebellion at all. The rebels get crushed by the military might.

A significant portion of the military is sympathetic. They bring the guns anyway.

There's a third:

A large portion of the military is sympathetic but only sees success with an armed populace.

And where is the American people's heart going to be when the military is waging war on its own population?

The American military will not wage war against its own. We are not some faceless corporate entity, out to kill whomever he government points us at. We are sons and daughters of Americans, hardworking, working class men and women who joined for various reasons, but ultimately fight for each other. We will not attack Americans.
