For this episode, CG designer, Ritsuko explains how to do "Compositing".
In this episode, we did the chroma key compositing for the last car scene using footage shot with green screen.
First, we shot the actor in front of the green screen acting as if he is hit.
And then we shot the car moving forward at the same place with the same camera position. We also transformed the head part of the car in the post-production process using the tool called puppet tools so that the car looks like it really hits someone and is crashed.
We did keying out the green screen footage then combined the cropped actor into the car footage. Then we move the position of the actor after being hit by the car so that he looks like he's hit and blown out.
For some scenes, like GAMON running in the field with many bombs, we used the mask and roto-scoping technique to crop the actor frame by frame to composite with background and some other elements.
