Keep Downvoting, you take this Internet Points away from me, darn you! /s Read the Post, proved every argument wrong.

Flair Filters do work on Mobile, this is what people don't understand. Any App that allows you to see the Sidebar of a Subreddit will be able to use the Flair Filters, they won't be pretty buttons because you can't see CSS on the Mobile Apps, they'll just be Links. And for anyone who absolutely must use an App that doesn't support Sidebars, you can type in the search bar flair:Black Ops 3 and you'll get the exact same page that you would if you used the Flair Filters.

For those that are worried they'll be annoyed by seeing AW content on their front page rather than BO3, lets be honest here, the newest COD will drown out the older ones, you're not going to see content from the un-popular COD within the first few pages of /Hot.

For those are are only interested in an older COD, Flair Filters will be your Best Friend, you're just one click away from the same experience you had on the old subreddit.

Let me explain Flair Filters as best as I can, I'm going to try and keep it as un-technological as possible so it's easy to understand.

You see the Images in the /r/BlackOps3 Sidebar that take you to the other Subreddits? Those are just Links that have been styled to be Images by using CSS. If you go look on Mobile you should just see the /r/CODZombies or whatever Link.

That's exactly how the Flair Filters will work. All they are are Links to the Search Page when searching flair:Black Ops 3 for example. Yes, they will be changed via CSS to look like Buttons, but those who are saying Flair Filters don't work on Mobile are misinformed.

If you actually cared to read this, thank you, if you're someone who just Downvoted because you disagree even though I stated the hard facts, it's whatever. I'm expecting to be Downvoted to hell, I actually contemplated making an alt just to say this, but if this doesn't prove that I mean what I'm saying then I don't know what does. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with this merge, but jeez it hasn't even happened yet, you guys don't know how exactly it's going to work, you're making assumptions based on false information.

I'm sorry for those of you that feel the way you do, but at least lets talk it out and resolve the issues together rather than just Downvoting me and leaving.

But we are playing BO3. All I want to see is black ops 3 stuff. There is literally no reason to change how things are now. I feel bad for you since you have the balls to come comment but the older mods tied your hands and basically said this is how it's going to be and we don't care what you think bc you're new. Sucks!

You're not going to see content from other games unless you specifically search for it using the Filters. There are reasons, and I've stated them below, you can find them if you'd like to discuss them.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about... Yes, the idea to merge was in place before I became a Mod, no, I'm not against it. In fact I've been much been the one to carry out the current state of the merge.

Got you confused with someone else. My apologies. Still, if it ain't broke....

The problem is the mobile app I use on IOS charges for content filters. I'm sure you can appreciate the need for ease of browsing when on mobile

[–]LackingAGoodName[rBLK] oMotive 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

Seriously? I wasn't aware of this, that's pretty shitty. I don't know how the Alien Blue App works, however these content filters aren't the same thing as the flair filters that we'll be doing. Flair Filters are free of charge and can be used on Any Device that allows you to see the Subreddit Sidebar or use the Subreddit Search Bar.

And yes, I very much appreciate the ease of Mobile Browsing, that's why I'm trying to stress that Flair Filters are possible on Mobile despite the popular opinion that they aren't.

[–]Sms_Boy 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

There are no flair filtering options as far as I'm aware on alien blue. I know you can access them via the side bar, however nothing inbuilt

[–]LackingAGoodName[rBLK] oMotive 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's an a feature, it's something we implement ourselves. All the Flair Filters are are just Links to the search page that will only show content from the corresponding game of your choice, that's it. ANY Device that can see a Subreddits Sidebar will be able to use the Filters.

The easiest solution is to group non current releases into /R/CallofDuty. If you're into an old game, lets say AW, any post you make will be drowned by the much more popular posts on the current game and anyone hating that game will probably just downvote it.

On the flip side, we come to read about the game we are playing. We don't need to see some meme, question or something that is totally unrelated bar the fact the engine is the same.

You say use flairs/filters but that's effort for people on Alien Blue, and like I said previously with the first point, basically no one would be searching AW posts.

I couldn't give a shit about power grabbing, as moderation power means nothing in the grand scheme. What is stupid is you're ruining a system that works for us and is not needed. I will happily join whichever sub is solely for the game I'm playing

Grouping all but the current release into /r/CallofDuty is being considered, but won't be the initial plan. Filters will allow those who only care about a specific game to see posts from that game and that game only, so you don't have to worry about old games being drowned out.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying with this flip side?

How so? I'm not disagreeing, I just don't own an iDevice so I'm not sure how Alien Blue works? All it is is a Link in the Sidebar that you'll click and you're taken to a search page displaying on results for the game that you're wanting to see.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Power Grabbing or whatever the fuck you're calling it, that's just flat out wrong. Yes, we're changing a system that works well for the current game users, however it doesn't work well at all for those on older subs, don't speak for everyone. How do you know we're ruining it when it hasn't even happened yet? lol

[–]TMilloMillooo 1ポイント2ポイント  (3子コメント)

Re: Power Grab. I said I couldn't give a shit, it's just what others are saying is a reason behind it. Like I said, that doesn't change shit to me so I don't care.

Look at /r/Fifa. Any posts about old games are drowned to hell due to basically no one playing it. Why should we have to go onto a sub, click sidebar, select an option then reload (Alien Blues way of filters) just to see different content? The aggregation won't work due to the lack of visibility, as has been shown on pretty much every other merge. Call of Duty is the series, but each game is so different that grouping is silly.

Realistically the main thing that is winding the community up is the fact you haven't even considered the community won't want it. Like it or not, our community isn't split like is claimed. The only disadvantage to the way things is now is the one time a year we have to work out the new URL if we decide to try that game.

Downvotes on Self-Posts don't do anything, so that's out of question. I doubt there's going to be very many link posts such as Clips, everything that can be done in the old games has already been done. Nobody is going to care enough to Downvote all the comments on a post about a game the don't like. And it doesn't matter what game the post is about, if it's good content it'll be upvoted.

4 Taps, 1 of which is required no matter what and you probably added to make it seem worse than it actually is. I'm sorry but if 3 extra taps of your finger out of the thousands of times you tap it a day is too much you're just looking for something to complain about lol.

We've given fair warning, we're doing everything we can and feel is necessary to make it as easy for the community as possible. We can't please everybody however.

Plenty disadvantages to the current system:

  • Confusion on the new sub for each game
  • Old subs die and only content doesn't get seen
  • Rebuilding a community each year, adding yet more and more subs to moderate to the list
  • Confusion on where to go rather than just have one, huge centralized subreddit for everything

[–]TMilloMillooo [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

So nothing on asking the community what it thinks is right? Or is that a silly question?

[–]LackingAGoodName[rBLK] oMotive [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

We have, we've been taking into consideration feedback from the community, obviously we're trying to work with you guys, if we didn't give a fuck I wouldn't be here arguing with half the people in this thread. Thing is, the community doesn't know what it thinks is right, they haven't even experienced the merge and they're already complaining about how bad it'll be, that's silly.

The sidebar links take us to a web page version of the subreddit. At that point there's just no point using the app. We use the app for a reason.

[–]LackingAGoodName[rBLK] oMotive [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Even if it's a Reddit Link it still opens in the Browser? Hm, I mean, there really isn't anything I can do about that, you could submit a feature request to /r/AlienBlue or whatever the Subreddit is and try to get that changed.

Whether mobile apps support flair filters or not, I just don't want to be forced to type in a search before I can see the posts I wanna see. I want only want my daily Black Ops 3 news, discussions and hate message images. I want it quick and easy. Quick and easy is not typing in flair:Black Ops 3 every single time. Quick and easy is a subreddit, /r/blackops3.
