Why would you make the punchline the title?

This is r/funny. Would you expect anything less?

    Why are people so stupid?
    Why are people so stupid?
    Why are people so stupid?
    Why does this get upvoted?

I started reading this grainy jpeg (which should be a video, but whatever), and I already knew how it would end.

    Why are people so stupid?

I'm not saying I hate you, but I would unplug your life support to charge my phone.

    Why

you're not letting your education get in the way of your ignorance

I mean, isn't that how it should be with anyone?

If you're on life support, there's a chance you may not even make it in the end and your life might almost be over.

If I don't respond to my BFFs in school about what's cool and what's not, my life is literally over right then and there.

So the choice is pretty easy.

Because they probably still got a chuckle out of it and upvoted without thinking of the graver dangers and extreme responsibilities of recklessly upvoting.

    Those fools!

Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

OP probably didn't have his/her morning coffee yet. Some people are getting out of bed before 7AM. Can you believe this shit?

I still don't get why this is an issue. Just don't use the last few lines of the joke as the title. That's normally where the punchline goes... He could have easily titled it "Tunneling Electron Microscope" or "Smaller than an Atom" or something, anything, other than the obvious punchline.

Because it's /r/funny . Why must you ask stupid questions?

It's become a meta joke to disobey the big flashing rule.

I really need to binge watch Fraiser, somehow. Brilliant show.

Netflix and Amazon prime. Binge away, it's one of my all time favorites

Is it on Netflix in the US? Haven't seen it on the UK one and I fucking love Fraiser.

Nah not seen it on UK Netflix :(

Yeah it's here in the US, my wife has it on to help her get to sleep, I've probably listened to every season 3 times by now.

How is she able to sleep when her sides are hurting and it's hard to breathe from all the laughing?

Does your wife find Fraiser boring?

I bet she finds Fraiser's voice calming.

I started watching it again last week! This is one of those shows that I laugh every episode, vice being mildly entertained.

On a similar note, the first 50 episodes of Roseanne are also on US Netflix. If you haven't watched it since the 90s, I highly recommend it.

I was pissed at first thinking there was something wrong with my phone because this started off clear and then got very pixelated and shitty, but I realized that'sthejoke.jpg.

      Right???

Uh, the gif is clear all the way though on my phone. You may want to check yours out.

Sorry for not knowing shit. But what is the deal with .jpg's?

They compress the image when saved which creates larger pixels and reduced quality. Saving something as a jpg over and over creates terrible pixelation.

It's a compression standard for images. People over-compress the image into a jpg the first time around. Or, more likely, as pictures are circulated around the internet, they keep getting uploaded and re-compressed which causes a loss in quality every single time it is uploaded.

It's a compressed file type that can lose information when you save it (some applications allow you to control how much quality is lost, but some make those decisions for you).

Someone more knowledgeable can feel free to correct me, but they lose quality every time you save them. I think .png is preferred for that reason.

They lose quality every time they are recompressed. Just copying them doesn't lose quality. .png is called lossless, which means that decompressing them gives you a perfect copy of the original. They are also much larger than .jpg for photographs, which is why they are usually only used for cartoons or computer screenshots.

With the method he describes of firing atoms at a sample I think he was supposed to be referring to a Transmission Electron Microscope. Either that or a Scanning Tunneling Microscope, which instead uses the effect of quantum tunneling of the electrons.

Either way, you can image some real small stuff.

Plus the atom is not the smallest building block of the universe. Get your shit together op!

Every day at my job, this is how I feel. Everyone has something to complain about. I don't care if you're upset about something you're working on. Just don't tell ME about it. I don't care.

Anti-social much? Some people just like to chat it up and complaining about a work related issue is usually common enough for co-workers to discuss. If you don't want to hear their problems, don't make yourself appear available for conversation.

OP what would be an agreement between the two of us that we shared a common interest in the same problem?

You haven't been clear on what your criteria for being interested in an problem I am having, so how can I be sure or despondent that you will or will not take an interest in my problem?

This is one of those lines that I would practice and be excited to fire out, and when the right moment arose I would start reciting it, only to be cut off like "dude, what are you talking about?"

And I'd have to say "No, wait just let me finish"

and the timing would get all messed up and even if I managed to still get it out they would look and me oddly and ask "did you....practice that line?"

      It would never work.
