As someone who would like to not see Trump, or any other person in favor of increasingly centralized authority, in the presidency, I'd rather see people rationally disarm him than mock him.

Mocking, meaning making fun of his name.

Who else makes fun of names?

Children.

Politics have gotten really childish.

"Drumpf" really was the original family name.

It's not funny.

Do you know how many Americans had their names changed when they immigrated? Almost all of them. Mine too. Shame is not involved.

Yes it is funny. Learn to laugh at yourself. You're taking the bait. Did none of you people grow up with siblings?

The point isn't that it's a valid criticism, the point is that Trump made fun of Jon Stewart for it.

Jon Stewart wasn't born Jon Stewart. He changed his name.

Donald Trump was born Donald Trump. He didn't change his name.

Do you understand?

You're right. He was born Jonathan Stuart.

Startling difference!!!

He has implied that the name change was actually due to a strained relationship with his father, with whom Stewart no longer had any contact.

Carry on though.

His birth name was Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz
