Let's not pretend that Cruz or Rubio would be better than Trump. I'm basically a socialist and I can tell you that Trump would be better than a robot and a religious fanatic.

If Bernie doesn't get anywhere though, the next four years are gonna suck.

Cruz and Rubio are Republicans, I'm saying that he's better than the other Republicans, not that he's better than Bernie or Hillary.

I'm definitely voting for Bernie or 3rd party, though I can say that a lot of Bernie supporters are backing Trump because they think an outsider winning this election could force the DNC to push better candidates in future elections, or perhaps ruin the GOP. Also a lot of Bernie supporters are independents who like certain aspects of both candidates.

Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump have completely incompatible political philosophies. A desire to fuck up the system by picking a terrible leader will not improve the government, it's just delusional (ask the Weimar Republic).

After Bernie Sanders concedes, he will endorse Clinton. Because that's literally the only thing that makes sense. I'm just hoping, as a democrat, that his supporters have enough common sense not to back Trump.

Donald Trump is closer to Bernie Sanders than most of Hillary's supporters would have you believe. He is positioning himself to the left on some of the key issues Sanders supporters care about most like free trade and an end to neocon nation building policies (of which Hillary is an undeniable proponent). Bernie also had some more conservatively right wing positions like his (historical) stance on gun control and his skepticism towards relaxed immigration controls.

Not to even mention that they are the only candidates not bought and paid for by corporate interests.

Clinton shares a lot more with a neocon like Jeb or Kasich than she does with Sanders, or his supporters.

I trust Cruz about as far as I can throw Chris Christie, but I'll be the first to say that Cruz would out and away be better than Trump; at least he grasps the Constitution and has some principles, even if he's inconsistent about it. I really stopped caring about the race after Rand Paul dropped out, though - none of the candidates are any good at this point.

You're technically not wrong - the next four years will definitely suck - but Bernie is about as bad as Trump in my book. He's a complete economic illiterate - and yeah, someone who can't grasp basic supply and demand is economically illiterate - and his entire campaign is based on promising free stuff (because you're not paying for it if the government just takes the payment straight out of your paycheck, obviously).

Sure, Sanders is a good person, I'm not disputing that. The thing is, Sanders is a kind-hearted moron, and the road to Hell - or serfdom - is paved with good intentions.

Since it's a game about real-world nations - albeit mostly historical - that's pretty tricky.

Since the /r/civ community has few conservatives, though, and not too many politically interested people in general, most of the discussion about politics seen here is interesting and very historical-learny, more along the lines of extra history than the normal obnoxious political discussion.
