Because she was expected to operate an equipment that was clearly unsafe, she made no operational mistakes and they coerced her to continue even though she was injured by no fault of her own.

Yeah that's grounds for a lawsuit.

Ever see the liability waivers they have on these shows? You choose to go fuck around with these contraptions for shits and giggles, you forfeit your right to sue. As for coercing to continue, she's an adult capable of making her own decisions. People are too quick to blame everyone but themselves and then beg for a handout. Be your own person. Take responsibility for your actions. Stop trying to get something for nothing.

Do you see what sub you're in? You can't forfeit your right to safety with a simple signature.

What? Yes, you most certainly can. That's why waivers exist.

Waivers don't cover blatant lack of safety precautions.

Yes they do. See if I make you sign something that states I won't be liable for ANYTHING that happens to you while you're in my home (9 paragraphs of fine print included), then you cut your ass on my toilet seat while peeing, guess what? That fine print on the paper you just signed said I won't be responsible for any toilet injuries. You agreed to the risk, you are out of luck. Why do you think people and governments post signs like 'enter at your own risk' or 'unmaintained road - use at own risk'? You don't even need to sign anything and that sign will stop you from suing anyone. It's pretty simple. I won't explain any further. Believe what you must but for your own sake, stop thinking you can sue everyone for the stupid shit you choose to do.

lol. waivers don't really do much. They are very good at giving you the mentality that you typed, but any competent lawyer can get around a waiver. They also might help a bit in reducing liability, but no way a sign or even a waiver is going to completely absolve an entity form negligence.

Yes they do.

No they don't. Waivers don't cover negligence.

Think of going to a skating rink. A waiver will protect the owners from lawsuits if you fall on the ice and crack your skull. But if while you're on the ice a lighting fixture falls from the ceiling and cracks your skull, no waiver is going to protect the owner.

Why do you think people and governments post signs like 'enter at your own risk' or 'unmaintained road - use at own risk'?

To protect themselves from frivolous lawsuits, not ones where there is a legitimate case for negligence.

That's not how the law works. You can't just say "here use this to win a prize but sign this waiver" and get off with a chuckle if the thingamabob explodes in the face of the contestant.

You are liable for any injuries. That's why you can't have traps for thieves on your property and other wonderful things like that.

A better example: if there's a footpath on your property and you put up a sign that says "using the footpath is tresspassing" you may think you're safe but if your footpath is unsafe and someone hurts themselves on it then you can be sued for injuries.

You must live in a magical world if you think waivers and signs absolve of all responsibility.
