I don't understand this thing on reddit where people are automatically bad if they are not fond of religion.

edit: see? you can't even ask why it's "a thing" Look how many people showed up to rage and DV when I mentioned it, lol... theres more discussion attacking my character under this comment than there is on the whole post in general! don't forget to downvote too, because the internet is Serious Business!!

52 children comments at the moment, and no other conversations going on, and yet every one of my comments viciously downvoted for "not contributing to discussion..."

Thats you guys. You behave that way. marinate on that.

If you polled this sub I'd bet that most people here are not only atheists but also critical of religion.

Nobody said he is automatically bad or that his post is shit because he isn't fond of religion.

OP is merely pointing out the comment is jerking the circle, so to speak; that's what this sub is for.

(If you want evidence of the circlejerk then search "religion mental illness" on reddit or merely subscribe to /r/atheism.)

Do you really not understand how saying religion is a mental illness is "automatically bad"?

Edit:

52 children comments at the moment

Almost half of those are you being salty because you got downvoted for equating "religion can be taught because of its historical significance but shouldn't be forced on kids in public schools" with "90% of the world is MENTALLY ILL!!1! Seulement I and mes /r/atheism brothers avons la LOGIQUE et RAISON!1!"

if they are not fond of religion.

Not being fond of religion is something else than calling it mental illness and rubbing your flying spaghetti monster in religious peoples faces.

"I'm clearly superior to magic sky fairy believers".

Exactly, it's not because it's critical of religion, it's because it stinks of /r/atheism. Let's just say if that person had a poster of Dawkins and Harris on his wall I wouldn't be surprised.

critical of religion

And therein lies another issue. Their so-called "criticisms" are so transparently bigoted and devoid of logic (which is so ironic). There are actual scholars of religion that have written extensively on the topic. Too bad none of those writings contain the terms "cuck", "invisible sky daddy", "Christianity is a cult", or "logical fallacy".

They're so disconnected from real scholarship and the learned world that they think their unsophisticated arguments are the epitome of "logic and reason".
