Everyone in this thread is a misogynistic fuck. She's a super talented producer so yall better start giving credit where it's due and stop patronizing women as incapable of producing dope ass electronic music.

[–]DubzMC 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

thank you god damn this shit always happens when anything about her gets posted here

Who the fuck is patronizing women. My favorite artist is Alison wonderland rn but this chick is definitely not creative as an artist. She definitely puts her gender out there to get clicks on her songs unlike Alison wonderland did when she was starting out. Stop fucking defending her because she's a girl. Her music is not that great compared to other bedroom producers. There are GREAT female artists i.e. Anna lunoe, Alison wonderland, mija (more of a great dj) , tokimonsta, j phlip. Fuck r/trap and their fucking dick comparing complex when it comes to cray. "Who can defend her the best" bullshit is dumb af for real. Her shit is mediocre and if it weren't for Vincent she would have 300 followers on soundcloud. Come on

don't let me crush you but AW doesn't produce her shit whereas people like Odesza do (check the number of producers on both albums - AWs album has 4+ whereas ODESZA has 1)

More so, Mija wouldn't be famous without Skrillex, AW wouldn't be popular without a major deal, majority of people start with a mentor.

not defending CRAY fyi just showing you another side.

Mija def is a byproduct of skrillex. Her track selection ain't bad but sometimes her mixing can be questionable. VenessaMichaels surprised me as a good dj when she opened a show one time. I had to google her name and it came up a pornstar if you spelled it Vanessa Michaels lol.

Who the fuck is patronizing women.

Alison Wonderland doesn't "put her gender out there" as much because she has a great record deal & the majority of shit she genuinely produces alone is bland as fuck like that WDYM remix. Anna Lunoe is great, no argument there. I know from various producers that Mija can barely produce a tune herself so kinda stupid to put her in there. Other 2 are fine, yeah.

But this thread is so hypocritical lmao. Is it because "SHE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE VINCENT" or because "her shit is mediocre"?

As a "blind" fan of Mija, you're on point and it makes me sad. Why can't she drop an original tune that goes hard as fuck? The world may never know.

I say her stuff is mediocre.

https://soundcloud.com/craysounds/alive

https://soundcloud.com/craysounds/by-your-side-cray-remix

https://soundcloud.com/craysounds/bbhmp

AND https://soundcloud.com/craysounds/fortune https://soundcloud.com/craysounds/1up are the same exact percussion kit

Come on don't stand there saying shes producing "dope ass" electronic music. Power to her for chasing her dreams but I cannot agree with anyones opinion saying she produces dope music. AW works with other artists for sure but majority of the bigger names do. Doesn't subtract from the fact that their tracks are their ideas and creativity. You can hear an AW track and can link WDYM remix with her other stuff on her album. Mija is a god behind decks but her songs are pretty lack luster, I shouldn't have named her.

There are definitely those who are patronizing Cray but I'm looking at it from an equal light. She's mediocre compared to other bedroom producers out there and if you want to bring up her gender she is mediocre compared to the other girls doing it (gender shouldn't even be brought up when judging ones music). All im saying is, if this was a guy I'm 99% positive /r/trap would agree their stuff is mediocre.

Come on, you can't be for real? It's all down to musical taste / opinions. This is one of my fav songs rn and sounds like a slightly better version of 1UP so I'm personally loving what she's doing. Again, I'm sure some people here hate SOPHIE, but I absolutely love what he's doing and would lean towards saying he produces "dope ass electronic music". Still, just my opinion.

if this was a guy I'm 99% positive /r/trap would agree their stuff is mediocre.

That's totally subjective. The majority of this sub has been really behind the whole minimal / weird percussion trap movement for a while now and if there was never any of this stupid "vincent produces for her" or "shes only got attention because of her gender" then I'm sure she'd fit in there quite nicely. Eh.

[–]hk_beast 0ポイント1ポイント  (3子コメント)

I wouldn't say Cray is anywhere close to reaching SOPHIE level though. SOPHIE is dope because he has a niche that no other artist really can copy. He knows different is what keeps real fans and doesn't throw super saws to make future bass drops because it's hot rn. 1UP is the one song that impressed me back then because it was her first song and I was in love with that losco, carmack shit. If you told me she'd make 2 other songs with the same 808 and percussion I'd be sad. I'm probably trippin hard and sorry if I stepped on shoes. Just got strong feelings against calling certain artists creative and their tracks unique. Also when people think their music is on the same envelope pushing lvel as artists like djemba, baauer, mura masa, ookay, GTA, nghtmre, dj snake, flume, in their respective genres. I know its unfair to compare but on a smaller scale, Im sure there are dope artist like the one you pointed out that are doing it different and better instead of playing it safe. Even those PC music guys and LuckyMe fam are trying to constantly make new shit. I seriously do not fuck with A LOT of their stuff but that one or two a semester that really are "wow this has never been done before" good are, to me, what makes a good artist.

[–]xTrill 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

I love SOPHIE and wasn't trying to compare them. Was just using that, as not long ago, enjoying SOPHIE was against the "wtf is this" circlejerk and now he's pretty much blown up, producing for Charli XCX and all, it's the norm.

Okay. Now see, for me, NGHTMRE is hugely overrated and I'd prefer listening to Vincent tracks and CRAY esque stuff any day of the week; If I said this in a NGHTMRE thread, (probably this one too now that I think of it) I'd get downvoted to oblivion as it's against the hive mind. What I'm getting at, is that it's all just down to personal preference. I also haven't seen CRAY, Vincent or anyone in this thread call their tracks unique? I'd say that Vincent is rather creative and CRAY is getting there, but that's just me. Then again, I'm not the sort of person to hang around for an artists 1 super unique song, but to try to stick with a style I'm enjoying at that time and listen to various artists / labels etc.

[–]hk_beast 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

Yeah lotta people jumping on SOPHIE. I admit I'm being hugely biased because I don't like that percussive wood block trap that Cray does or future bass really like this new Cray song and a lot of Vincents new stuff is. It's all good though different strokes for different blokes. I eat up nghtmre tracks like fired up and street all day so I can see the tables being flipped here.

[–]xTrill 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Hah, funnily enough Fired Up and Street are like the only two I thoroughly enjoy, along with the unreleased LOUDPVCK collab but that uses Virtual Riot samples so I won't get into that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm so sick of people saying it's because shes a woman. It's because SHE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE VINCENT.
