@marjoriemliu @shellheads A Asian American would have enforced the stereotype that all Asians are Kung fu fighters
Iron Fist is an orientalist-white-man-yellow-fever narrative. Asian actor would have helped subvert that offensive trope, and reclaim space.

@marjoriemliu Wouldn't having an Asian guy playing a martial artist when he IS supposed to be white MORE stereotypical? Makes no sense.1件のリツイート 3 いいね -
@Synergycomic@marjoriemliu you're glossing over the mystical city of kun lun central to his story. isn't just that he "does martial arts"0件のリツイート 0 いいね -
@8spiders@marjoriemliu yeah he gets trained by ASIAN people...If they cast a bunch of white guys to train him I could see the outrage haha.0件のリツイート 0 いいね -
@Synergycomic@marjoriemliu that's an understatement. either you don't really know the history/background or you're being obtuse0件のリツイート 0 いいね -

@marjoriemliu Are you going to do as you promised that you will never watch "Iron Fist" if they cast a white guy? Or was that for attention?0件のリツイート 0 いいね -
@marjoriemliu Except pretty much all of Iron Fist's struggles are a result of his being a white fish out of water. Asian IF wouldn't be IF.0件のリツイート 0 いいね -

@marjoriemliu But wouldn't casting an Asian actor reinforce the equally offensive "all Asians know kung fu" stereotype?0件のリツイート 0 いいね -
@marjoriemliu so only Asians can play a martial artist, got it. Asian stereotypes must remain everybody0件のリツイート 0 いいね -
