But there are jobs. Your argument right now boils down to "I have no skills, I don't want to develop the skills, so society needs to conform to my needs".

not necessarily "I don't want to develop the skills"

Question is WHO will help them develop the skills so they can compete with others in the job market, a steel worker may not have the funds/education required by some of these STEM careers.

You can get a 2 year associates degree in engineering technology for $8000 and get a job making $40-50,000. There's 1.5 STEM jobs for every 1 STEM graduate in Pittsburgh. There's nobody to blame for not taking advantage of that but yourself.
