1UP MeetUP - PAX Edition Part 2

Dear 1UP land,

I am writing this to you as I'm sitting at the booth here at Penny Arcade. It's the last day, and I'm really tired. If someone brought me a pillow, I'd wake up next week. Part of the reason I lack the will to keep my eyes open is this little gathering I threw last night. Well, I don't mean to brag but we had an amazing turnout. Check out Mike Cruz's blog for part 1 of this photo compilation.  He snagged pictures of the line that wrapped around the building, Kathleen Sanders, Dana Jongewaard, Jeremy Parish, etc.

The  night started at 10:15 pm and ended when GameWorks kicked us out at 1:30 am. The event was amazing! I'm certain there were 300 or more peopleat one point. If you were at the meetUP, and you are reading this, I <3 you. I especially need to thank the industry folks that came out: Totally Rad Show, the Brodeo crew, GameSpy, G4, and the Electric Playground team.

  Cheers!  From the looks of it, PAX (original) was another success.  I'm just waiting for the new year to roll around and hope that the new PAX East will be a taste of what PAX Prime is.

  I'm a Seattle local and since I don't drive my last bus home left too soon after the Brodeo reuinion. But I did come by to say hi to you at the 1UP booth on Sunday. And I got to have some great conversations with my games writing hero, Jeff Green, multiple times during the convention. Hopefully next year I'll have a ride and will be able to make the post events get together.

  It was great getting to meet you all! =)

  (and yes, you did look pretty woozy at the booth today!)

  Awesome pics from the 1up party. Curious.. Did someone pick up that book that you kept throwing on the floor just in front of the 1up booth? Or did everyone keep putting it back on the table haha. I'm in the second picture I think.

  Does the Sess even drink? He dosen't seem like the type of guy who would when there's a chance of him having to be on camera. He takes care of his reputation pretty well and always seems pretty well composed.

  So I was taking the pics and I saw Adam Sessler over by the bar with Garnett. I headed over because I wanted to get some photos -- I chatted up Adam a little bit (we reminisced about the TechTV days in SF).

  Then I started talking to a couple 1UP members who were standing nearby...and then it happened; out of the corner of my eye I saw Adam Sessler and Garnett Lee toasting their drinks. DAMN! I should have had that pic! Even worse? IT HAPPENED IN SLOW MOTION. NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO! (slow motion relative to viewer)

  Anyway, no regrets -- I snapped that sweet pic of Sessler above and had a cool conversation with him and some 1UP bros.

  I was there, but I was pretty drunk. My friend and I ended up chatting up with this guy who used to work for EA in Vancouver. I remember every once in a while someone recognizable would pass by and we'd secretly whisper to each other, "oh my god, _____ is standing right behind you."
