You would be quite correct. There has also been a explosion of gun violence since the gun was invented. Whats your point? A "high" rate of gun violence does not mean you are at risk on a regular basis.

My point about the media hype train is in reference to the fact that the media likes to sensationalize the issue of gun violence to the absurd. Tracking gun violence is identical to tracking shitty human behavior but only choosing events that involve guns to make it appear that guns are to blame. American culture is to blame for gun violence although nobody in power has the political means to survive saying it.

I think America could use some common sense laws (not stupid shit like magazine limitation and full auto bans) like competency requirements and background checks to keep the simply untrained and legitimate crazies from owning weapons. But once again the glorious polarization of America's culture has one force fighting for the complete abolishing of guns (because banning drugs worked so well) and the complete acceptance that literally everyone should be allowed to own whatever they want.

Its the culture, not the stupid metal machines we use for various purposes.

Usually around 20,000 to 30,000 depending on the year.

Which always counts suicide (which is a small portion of the means by which people kill themselves) , justified homicide (the worst case scenario where your life likely depended on being armed) , gang related incidents ( a definition taken to broadly sometimes but generally legitimate) and accidents. The remaining fraction (legitimate murders and victims of gun violence) is usually drastically lower than accidental deaths by other means.

Suicide and gang related violence will occur regardless of gun violence and you want people armed for a legitimate homicide (how do you think this gif would have ended if they all have knifes? Let me tell you, 3 v 1 and that store-owner is dead).

Cause that's how the market flow is right now. Much more plentiful here. If there were high demand for illicit weapons in america (moreso than that of mexico), they would provide. Just look at the drug industry.

They have much stricter gun control laws and all of the manufacturers are in the US. Most illegal weapons would be smuggled in from Eastern Europe or Asia.

Yes, but they would most likely come through Mexico. Like I said, look at the drug trade, there are already established routes and procedures, origin doesn't matter as much in the long run, they're always gonna come from somewhere. And Mexican police forces are much more easily paid off

Yes I know that. But if you make it harder for sick people to get guns then that reduces shootings a lot. Just look at australia, they havent had a mass shooting in ages. Sure, our laws are a bit to tight, but people dont ever think about a mass shooting here. I'm not saying to ban all guns, I'm just saying there needs to be more regulations. And I mean you cant say america doesnt have a gun problem. Thousands of people die each year, and you hear about mass shootings very regularly. it's something that needs to be dealt with. Yes I also realize criminals will always get access to guns, but those depressed, psycho kids that shoot up schools, if there parents didnt have guns they wouldnt be able to kill people as efficiently. And they wouldnt bother trying to get one illegally.

If you help sick people get treatment and remove the stigma of mental health, you don't need to ban any guns. Don't try to pretend the majority aren't 100% for making sure crazy people don't get guns.
