Don't forget, those colleges aren't as high quality as here in the US. People from all around the world come to the US for an education. Not Germany.

Exactly. They're more like community colleges here (which are underrated). They don't fight over prestige as much and of course no $500m sports complexes.

Closest equivalent to the U.S. system is the UK system, where it is pretty expensive. (They tried free college for a while but it didn't do much for inequality)
