I'm not against the concept, but I think in a country as large and heterogeneous as the US it can't really work.

It was tried in india until the 90s with disastrous results. It is a good example of a large heterogeneous democracy that flirted with socialism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Indian_economic_crisis

Absolutely. Also, I don't trust the government and I think most people don't. Wasn't there a poll here the other day that said like 60% of people think the govt is corrupt? The other 40 are daydreaming or part of the corruption. Govt programs are nice and can serve as a baseline but them manifesting our lives sounds scary.

More millionaires are created in Washington DC these days, then in silicon valley. If we grow the government in a manner that supports true socialism, the 1% will be those in power - the politicians.
