Can descendants of British Colonist become UK citizens? (self.answers)

I'm guessing this is a no but I'm curious. I can trace my heritage back to the early days of Jamestown. Do I have any rights to become a citizen of the UK as my ancestors helped in establishing a British colony? If yes, does this get nulled by the fact that later ancestors fought in the American Revolution?

It looks like you can get a visa to go live and work in UK if you live in a commonwealth country and have a grandparent from the UK [source]. I'd imagine the requirements would be stricter coming from the US as we aren't in the commonwealth, so your Jamestown ancestors won't be of much help.

I don't think it goes further than grandparents for any country's rules on claiming citizenship.
