That's why I carry.

Yeah, I still might be killed, but not without taking that scum with me. I know this was NYC, where the police just want you to be a good victim, but I don't subscribe to that doctrine.

And that's still better than having to live with myself knowing I left my daughter to be raped, just to save myself. I just couldn't do that.

How would getting shot and killed, then letting your daughter be raped by four instead of five men; be preferable to you? I simply can't understand your thought process. I always want to be on the side that's alive and not dead even if that means living with the guilt that you were only able to apprehend all five criminals AFTER the crime happened.

You don't have children, do you?

[–]danny841 3ポイント4ポイント  (30子コメント)

So you're saying that having children makes you do stupid things? I still don't get it. If you KNOW you're going to fail at protecting her, why would you do it? It's not heroic. Heroic is seeing the criminals be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law and being alive to be the rock that your daughter needs now that she's coping with the MASSIVE mental health issues she's going through. But hey, you can go ahead and leave your daughter an orphan if it makes you feel like a real man.

Heroism has nothing to do with it, man. It's about doing what needs to be done. Protecting my child.

How do you know those thugs won't kill her?

But hey, you can go ahead and run away.

lel, I neck you to the ground and put a forty in your back any hero shit you pull gonna bleed out half paralyzed on a filthy Brooklyn sidewalk. Ya gonna do what tell you. get mad, Mr. 20/20

You won't get close enough. I maintain situational awareness in public.

By the time you decide to act, I will already have identified you as a potential threat and will have worked out a disengagement plan.

My hand is already on my weapon, finger in register, safety off.

Your last hope is to obey my verbal command to withdraw.

I wasn't trained to spray and pray. You'll get two to the torso and one to the head.

Start with situational awareness on the Internet and work your way up

Situational awareness, there's the rub.
Our theoretical scenario would never have taken place to begin with.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

lol. Whatever Captain America :D

I read that in the voice of R. Lee Ermey.

That's an impressive rant.

I find it funny that people seem to think that they can predict what they would do in a tense situation. You don't know what you would do, say, if someone drew a gun on you in public. For all you know, you might shit your pants and start crying. You might drop the gun, or you might just panick and freeze up.

[–]Lord_Dreadlow 1ポイント2ポイント  (2子コメント)

Proper training mitigates that risk.

However, I do concede that a real event will dump loads more adrenaline into the body than any training scenario, no matter how realistic.

So, you're correct, no one can accurately predict what will happen.

That's why rule number one is not to engage in high risk activities or frequent high risk areas.

But I must acknowledge that anything can happen anywhere at any time, so I shall also be prepared; or prepared as I can be.

[–]TheSagaOfMartin 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

Why would you want to live somewhere that forces you to be on guard and alarmed at all times? I mean, it's obvious that you don't feel safe in public. Seeing that you are acting like you're a deadly defense weapon ready to go ham.
