I'm well-known in a certain community for being sowellian in my economics.

He's a neocon who misses the big picture we have with trump. i don't fault him for being too old to see the writing on the wall

That libertarian principles and the glory of the Republic is never coming back, and the only hope we have as a country is nationalism and empire.

In short, Sowell is Cato and Trump is Caesar.

P much this desu senpai. Things can only really happen in a certain order. Maybe classical liberalism can come back again within a hundred years, but things aren't likely to go BACKWARDS to freedom. There'll have to be an organic progression through various ugly stages first.

>How do you feel about this? And I'm asking this question of the well informed and those familiar with history and historical policies.

Well if you read enough sowell you'll learn that he wants:

A) An experienced executor
B) An executor who's record can be examined
C) Someone who actually understands economics

He also says that when successful private sector executives enter public office, they are unable to repeat their success because the environment, incentives, and challenges are so different.

Also trump does not understand economics. I wish business administration would lend knowledge of economics, but it really doesn't.

Sowell actually explains how jews advanced to the position they hold in our society.

A long time ago, like today, people hated financiers and bankers, and they also hated jews. Since the jews were hated regardless of what they pursued, their reputation couldn't get any worse, so they were comfortable with that line of work.

thomas sowell is the #1 economic hit man for offshoring U.S. industry

Anytime someone suggests we protect infant industries in the U.S., the jews wheel out Sowell to make doom predictions about how the great depression was caused by the smoot-hawley tariff bill, which is a bullshit straw man.

tl;dr: Thomas Sowell is a neocon shill. Ignore him and profit

He never outright stated they were hated for no reason, just that they were hated whether they were doctors or bankers

On an unrelated note, I was just thinking about how one big solution to fixing America would be to have a economics and political knowledge test to weed out people who clearly shouldn't vote, and how it wouldn't be discriminatory because people could attain that knowledge for free

Then I watch a video with Sowell urging people who don't know shit to not vote

They mention Ben Carson actually in the same interview.

Basically, the conversation goes from that the leaders of any isolated group is essential what's holding back the group. So the Black leaders (isolated group) are holding back the blacks. So the interviewer says: So Ben Carson, not Al Sharpton, and he agrees.

This is the part:

It's obvious to anyone with a brain that trump is a moderate. He's molded his positions to get elected under the republican nomination. He's a salesman. He chose the conservative vote because they respect success and strength. Conservatives will also put aside ideological and religious differences if it means we can have an asskicker president who takes shit from no one.

Even /pol/ is like this. Libertarianism has been replaced by nationalism on this board and trump fanned the flames. No one here seems to be concerned about authoritarianism and what happens when trump is replaced by a democrat down the road in backlash with expanded executive powers.

The retarded part is no competitor is pointing this out because it's impossible to really prove that trump hasn't really changed his mind. Instead Cruz made a retarded pass on new york and walked right into a campaign killer.

Honestly I like the moderate trump more than the fake conservative trump. I hope he ends the war on drugs and our interventionist foreign policy. I hope a lot of people on the left side of the isle like him, or else we are fucked in 2020.

How is sowell a neocon?

I've heard him point out that congress, both democrats and republicans, hold just as much blame for the invasion of iraq as george bush. Sounds right to me, I saw them vote on that shit in junior high.

He thinks that it was a mistake to pull out of iraq against the advice of our generals.

He wants to stop iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

The first is true, the second requires a cost/benefit analysis that I can't even comprehend, and the third is the most rational position ever.

I honestly think he will he'd be a moron not to. He's killing it in the polls but he is butchered day and night on social media and MSNBC people are afraid to come out as Trump supporters because they see him as a radical right wing facist and racist.

Once he gets the nomination it will be a total switching of gears beyond his stated plans for the general election. I imagine border security will still remain his issue as well as the wall, the refugees will be refused until at least 6 months, and his tax policy will remain in tact. But what actually works to Trump's benefit are those "NY Values" which Cruz tried to undermine but will win him the general. He's been pro choice, he's been pro gay marriage, and he's been against basically every war that the US has entered since WWII.

He might finally be the rallying call to get a fiscal conservative with moderate social policies who isn't afraid to say how much he loves and appreciates this country without looking like he's lying through his teeth. That would kill any Democrat because all the Democrats have against Republicans is "they hate gays, muslims, blacks, etc." but if he can prove them unilaterally wrong and prove he's money smart its over.

sowell's pretty genius.

but the open door of the free market isn't going to work in the modern geopolitical landscape.

he also looks at every human as equal value. giving +100 quality points to the billions of poor outside america is worth more than giving +100 quality points to americans, to him.

we can't lift people up through our trade, because we fuck it up with endless gibmedats, and they fuck it up by being incompetent.

we can't co-exist with cultures so wholly alien to our own that mutual respect is impossible and they're hell bent on eliminating those different than them.

Sowell has argued many times that the degeneracy of blacks is due to welfare and the culture that surrounds it, as evidenced by the spike in poverty and crime among blacks following the advent of LBJ's supposed War on Poverty.

This is proven by the fact that there are possibly no blacks that aren't niggers unless they were born before 1965 or raised without welfare, preferably in poverty (see: Africans in the US outperforming black Americans economically).

Yes, but it doesn't make a difference in your cognition. Vaccines are simplly weaken/dead virus/bacteria with a saline base. Vaccines should not be taken close together for risk of weakening immunity/risk for anaphylaxis.

No where, NO WHERE does it effect your learning. Needless to say cause autism.

I've been wondering why a lot of widely known conservative intellectuals have come out against Trump, and I think I figured it out:

Look at Shapiro's speech, and then Q&A at Mizzou a couple months ago and he says the Republicans will win because they always do when a foreign threat is of greater concern than social issues. Since then Clinton has bombed in public opinion polls, and Sanders realistically has no chance of winning whatsoever.

It's a pretty safe bet that the next president will be a Republican, so therefore the debate comes down to which one. The true election is the republican primary, and if conservatives are guaranteed the spot then of course they're going to elect the one whom they know and understand best (which is why they shill Cruz/Rubio so much), not a wild card like Trump.

In their eyes a divisive, unpredictable candidate like Trump is a liability to the party and won't be able to pass anything through Congress. This stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of his ideas and support and will not be rectified even when he receives the nomination, although the more intelligent ones will probably stop their dissent.

I bet he thought Obama was an economic genius though. Maybe Bernie is also an economic genius.

20 trillion dollar debt will be saved by Socialist Bernie.

Sowell is out of touched with modern reality of shit.

Many people are great about writing about hypotheticals. Great at teaching hypotheticals.

But can't function in real economic world and make a dollar for themselves.

As good as Sowell is, at writing about economics, i doubt he could run 1 business himself. And I have one of his books to read.

Most often than not, those that write about economics, have not instincts for anything, and cant actually economics themselves. And thats a FACT. Not many "economic writers" can run a business, or become rich.

They only are good at talking about it. Not doing shit.

You want to make a country, or business run well. Hire somebody that knows how to make deals, how to hire actual business doers. Somebody who has a proven track record growing and making wealth, jobs, and businesses in diverse fields.

As good as Sowell is at EXPLAINING/writing about basic economics, i doubt he could make an Ebay comic selling business thrive. And thats the truth of 95% of all "economic" teachers at Harvard and the like.

Julius Caesar was a Roman prefect who rose to power during the Roman Republic by campaigning in Gaul. However he got more and more power hungry as he viewed the Senate as inefficient and corrupt. So he gradually put things into motion whereby he ended up as "dictator" (a Roman title referring to a despot they would elect when in grave danger to run all affairs for a short time). However, he declared he was dictator for life, much to the dismay of many Senators, Cato especially.

All of this culminated with the Ides of March plot, where several senators, including Caesar's long time friend, Brutus, stabbed him in the Senate Hall.

Afterwards, a massive civil war ensued between Antony (a loyal servant of Caesar), Augustus (Caesar's adoptive nephew, who would go on to become Caesar Augustus, the first Roman Emperor), and Brutus and those loyal to the conspirators.

After the fire settled, Octavian, now calling himself Caesar Augustus, emerged as sole ruler of Rome, which was transformed from a republic into an empire.

All I heard was "glib ego maniac". Is there some point in this interview where he explains why Trump would be a bad president, especially in light of the other candidates? Is there somewhere where he qualifies what would make a good president, and what choice we have today?

Jesus, this kind of thing drives me nuts. So, who is the good choice? Show me the good choice that isn't owned by Goldman Sachs, or some kind of billionaire somewhere? At least Trump is HIMSELF a billionaire, and the only people he'll owe anything to will be the ones who elected him. How that doesn't appeal to all the Bernfags complaining about candidate being bought-out by billionaires, and tea partiers complaining about this and that...

Seems like the Left only really cares about the race and gender of the canidate, and most conservatives only care about whether the candidate is a fundie Christian. Both extremes in this country are fucking retarded, there are so many more problems that those concerns.

Hold those horses man

Augustus was smart enough to know trying to declare himself sole ruler of Rome was what got Caesar killed.
Augustus ruled as Princeps Senatus (First Senator) For his lifetime.
As did every "emperor" after him until Diocletian, the first to bear the title of Imperator.
The period of pseudo-empire is know among historians as the Roman Principate

It doesn't really matter who gets in at this point, the US government is continuously making more and more strong moves towards dictatorship.

None of the candidates except perhaps Rand are going to give up powers that have been laid down step by step with every previous president.

This is a continuous process, so I don't think trump is going to go full dictator, but he will absolutely continue stepping up the ladder, and each president after him is going to do the same until we have finally sleep walked into the inevitable dictatorship.

I assume you are aware of this thing called the roman empire? Well it wasn't always an empire. It started as republic, run by a senate of wealthy elites. This changed when Julius Caesar came along. Through a series of Machiavellian political moves and civil wars, he became the de facto dictator of the republic. He and a his eventual successor Augustus turned that republic into an empire with power heavily centralized in the hands of the emperor.

Cato was a member of the senate during this transition period. He was a noted orator who was part of the faction that opposed Caesar and the death of the republic. He was also an intellectual and philosopher. He eventually sided with Pompey Magnus against Caesar in the civil war that ensued during Caesar's coup. He an hero'd when his faction got bitchslaped by Caesar's legions.

Many people argue that the roman republic had to become an empire in order to manage it's ever growing power and territory.
Saying that Sowell is Cato and Trump is Caesar is a reference to this pov. They are saying that Sowell is a disconnected intellectual that doesn't understand how America's position has changed, and a Jeffersonian republic is just not possible anymore.

I'm tired of every person who gets the chance, saying "Trump is awful, egomaniac, jerk, rude" or some other thing that sounds like a reaction to tone over substance, or aesthetics in place of philosophy. NO shit there are differences

But even you baby fags must understand that almost every economic teacher, does not know shit about real world economy. Just knows the name of shit. Like, that principle is a micro economic principle. That one is a macro economics. This is how the economy of bananas work etc etc.

I think you finally understand the point.

Or every fucking harvard, yale, and university economic professor would be the richest people on earth if they could really know how to run anything, let alone a country.

So those that criticize, or give praise, are often basing shit on their biases, or what their own professors told/taught them. Instead of any real economic savvy.

In fact, is better for a country to have a fucking successful businessman, that has a proven record of cutting through bullshit to get actual economic things done. Faster, better, and cheaper than any "expert".

Thomas Sowell doesn't like him because there are bigger things at hand. For example, Unions have to be completely removed. The federal reserve has to be completely removed. Almost all government programs must be removed without exception. Almost all regulations must be removed. So while it's nice to hear someone not being politically correct, or shilling for some other entity, it just doesn't do it. We're replacing one Obama with another... essentially. Again, I said maybe Trump actually will remove unions, government programs, federal reserve, etc... but he probably won't. That's why Thomas Sowell equates him to Obama. Now imagine Trump comes in and America still got big problems... Bernie Sanders will definately be the next president because that's how Obama came to office because of a bad cuckservative. So unless Trump is suuuuper smart and doesnt say anything about federal reserve until he gets into office, you essentially have another Obama in the office.

Also I kept mentioning Bernie Sanders, because I thought you were a faggot that would be furious that somebody godforbid critisized Trump.

Give up faggot you can't be saved. The bigger picture is that all good things must come from within. The government's sole purpose is to protect the nation, uphold the law, and have a working and balanced judicial system. That is it. Because all other problems must be fixed within the individual. Why is it important for it to go within the individual? that's what you dont understand, and that's why you can't be saved. If you have any basic understanding of What America the land of the Free entails, you'd understand that and obviously you've been around here for the sources to come by you.

Yeah. Iran is nationalist. The people were very nationalist before the government. Later on, after some fall outs between the people and the government things changed. The current nationalism comes from the government. The result is that nationalism is there but the benefits of it are not. You can find corrupt, degenerate nationalist. It's almost as if the point was lost.

If conservatives ever thought me anything, it's that something is either genuine or not at all. There is no shortcut. Nationalism should be the will of the people because they have it's benefits in clear view. Otherwise, you might as not have it. At the beginning maybe it will look good, but eventually it will be regretted. Such is all government efforts.

>It doesn't really matter who gets in at this point
Marginalizing.

>the US government is continuously making more and more strong moves towards dictatorship

Under a Democratic President, put in office by democratic majority rule whom promote, perpetuate democratic ideals

>None of the candidates except perhps Rand are going to give up powers that have been laid down step by step with every previous president

Generalizing, however, Trump promotes a repeal of Obamacare, Common Core namely.

>This is a continuous process, so I don't think trump is going to go full dictator, but he will absolutely continue stepping up the ladder, and each president after him is going to to the same until we have finally sleep walked into the inevitable dictatorship

Straw-manning. The world will fall into chaos -- at the hands of Liberals when Republicans throw in the towel and quit promoting conservatism.

Consider voting Republican this upcoming Presidential Election. The conservative platform already seeks to combat dictatorship, represent an individual's God given rights of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness & property and lastly prevent the befalling of America to tyrannical rule.

In this case, it's nationalist sentiment vs globalism. Trump represents national interests.

Topically, my problem with libertarian economics is that their primary concern is ethical rather than economic. They are concerned with government use of force, not the practical results for the citizenry at large. When they also sell it as the best system on top of being the most ethical it starts to sound utopian.

Look, ethics trumps economy because having the best economy is overrated. It's not Utopian, because it's not about equality. It eliminates waste. The country's prosperity can be held back by materialism. You can even go towards a bad foreign policy if you value economy over ethics. Not to mention with the right Ethics, you would have one of the best economy anyways, you just don't have the obsession of it.

>Trump has never met a form of corporate wellfare he didn't like
>Trump has called for a 45% tax on goods from China due to yuan deval. This is a a tariff, and yes he lied about not saying this in the most recent debate
>Trump has historically been pro-singlepayer HC
>Trump has been against closing various tax loopholes the wealthy use

Perhaps the most important thing to bear in mind about Trump is that he's not anti-establishment, he just thinks the people manning it are stupid and weak. He has no real problem with big gov and big biz, his fortune is due largely to how they both intersect for mutual benefit when it comes to real estate (eminent domain being the foremost example). Whereas Rubio wants to reform the establishment, and Cruz wants to tear it down, Trump wants to tell its current members that they're fired, then put all of "the very best people" who he knows because he's Trump and Trump knows best/does best/is best etc.

So, bearing all this in mind, please, tell me his tax plan (which he has spoken so much about).

I was listening to the radio on Friday and Glenn Beck was just ranting and ranting on Trump, blaming this exact statement. He isn't necessarily worried about Trump on the issues, he's worried about the precedents Trump would set, and of the person who gets in afterwards. At first I thought he was ridiculous, but now I'm starting to think he's right.

Trump has already won the election, I think it's too late to do anything about it.

Fuck, it's the Obama cult of personality all over again. Only this time, we have decades of Trump being a jackass with no class and no principles; only believing in whatever makes him money and strokes his ego.

It's people like you who proved the founders right when they were adverse to letting every asshole to vote simply because the individual possessed an asshole. You're so fucking swept up in his crassness and anger because you're pissed off at how politicians have become their own little insular society (and also because you're from 4chan and name calling is the norm). So ready to hope and so eager for change that you'll ignore every sign, new and old, that he's been a part of your hated establishment since he was fucking born.

Your idiocy would make me pity you, if you weren't so hellbent on committing mistakes that are nothing more than the flip side of the same coin that is the last two Presidential elections.

If you listen to old people, they are all very pessimistic. I guess they have all already seen the Obamas and Trumps of their day. Ultimately we're all probably wasting our time. There are threads here about the specifics of the fights in syria, etc. They always make fun of your for brining up "identity politiccs". They are right. The illusion of choice, etc. At most we can get is a history lesson, which should've been our first homework anyway.

Exactly this

The people, not the progressives or libertarians or cuckservatives or demoshits, the actual people of America want Donald Trump

What he says is exactly what the people agree with
He resonates with their fears and aspirations

Love him or hate him Donald Trump is American to the core
I don't know the last president I could say that about in the last like 3 decades (not even bush Jr)

>>61328511
It's not Obama's cult mate
That's a poor comparison
Obama didn't pull Trump rally numbers

The founders hated Jackson because the founders hated the American people
They liked the ideals they created and formed but a very large portion of our founders had a fear of the people (and for good reason)
They at least trusted them more than the state but don't you dare think for a second they weren't wary of the Americans

I don't care if hes part of the establishment or not the fact is he is not only going to win I think he's going to win in a landslide

What do you think about the idea of Trump getting assassinated? Wouldn't that be the best outcome?

Probably a civil revolution and back to a republic.

The individual, by and large, is the reason we need booms and busts. He's the reason systems rot.

But how do we make the best of the inevitable? By living well and striving to put your children in a better position than others. And have them do the same. So that when the next boom happens, it'll be them making the hard choices and not being on the receiving end of other choices.

Insulating them does not give them adequate experience to understand the world though.

>It's nothing like Obama because Trump pulls in bigger crowds sycophants and malcontents (even if their hearts are in the right place)

You crack me up, you really do. As if popularity were a real measure of value. Doing the right thing has never been popular, does that make doing evil the better choice of the two?

Anyway, there are quite a few reasons voting was tied to white, male landowners. Chief among them is that your average person is a sucker who cares nothing about his civic duty, and will vote for whoever will give him the most of other peoples money. By limiting who can vote in such a manner, it encourages civic duties ans responsibilities, while ensuring the quality of your average voter higher than that of your average citizen.

Trump is different from Obama only because he's seized onto populist ideals as a way to exoand and strengthen his brand, instead of progressive ones (which were what he held before).

Trump seems to be the only candidate remotely close to Sowell on immigration. Sowell appears to say the US should return to the old policy of discriminating on nationality. From the video:

>Sowell: There's immigrants from different places, different kinds of immigrants, and we don't even want to discuss those things. A hundred years ago they were talking about immigration, they had all kinds of data on crime rates, death rates, everything you can think of about immigrants from various countries around the world. No-one even dares to ask such questions today.
>Robinson: So the country in the old days had the self-confidence to pick and choose.
>Sowell: Absolutely
>Robinson: We'll take some from here and not from there. That's what you'd like to see?
>Sowell: Yes
Robinson: What would be the principles? We would accept immigrants who'd do us economic good?
>Sowell: Economic good and preferably not plant explosives in various places.

Yes you are absolutely correct. There are actually many things common between Trump and Sowell. For example, both against common core. Not to mention, Trump did say there will be mass cutting in programs. This is why I think there is some vague hope. Some of his close people have suggested that "he's for sound money", which makes you think he is anti-federal reserve but this could all just be Pandering.

So his "brand" is not hurt, maybe people won't be paying him to lease his name on new buildings anymore but he doesn't care his non branded real estate portfolio is absolutely gigantic and he's now even a bigger media draw than he ever was. They are obviously closer to Trump than to any other candidate but will still shitpost because Trump isn't about muh libertarian purity of dogma instead of taking a hit and endorsing him.

There is a reason why libertarianism has never become a big ideology and that is strategical retardness from those that should be its vanguard.

Trump will end America in the fires of glory, how much is nationalism worth? The souls of the individuals powering it forward into their own eternal oblivion?

The reason it hasnt become a big ideology is because saying "I will do nothing as your government" to social problems doesn't make you a hero, even if doing nothing is absolutely the best course to take. And at what point did you think conservivism is some different ideology as libretaniasim. They co-existed together and believed to be the same thing. The Republican is rotten and corrupt and it can't be restored unless you could somehow magically take the vote away from the sub-human hordes (mainly blacks) and the emotionally unstable women who have ruined this nation. The founding fathers never could have anticipated that we would have been stupid enough to give the vote to negroes, women, and allow non-white hordes to flood into our country,

>and the empire will have to put up or shut up when it comes to defending their gains against their geopolitical rivals
We haven't even started yet.

Ever since the end of WW2, we have been playing with the lives of our soldiers and throwing them away as if they were completely meaningless because our military was handicapped by politicians who were terrified of incurring the wrath of an infantile population that shit itself whenever it saw a picture of a dead little sand person or some dead yellow people.

Unlike Rome, we are stretched thin only because we choose to be stretched thin. If Rome had the technology to just pound all of Germania with fucking sarin gas then they would have. We're stretched thin because we aren't using the full power of our military might. We have these idiots who force our military to operate using pathetic counter-insurgency tactics which have never fucking worked and have lead nation after nation into disaster.

If we were smart then we would deal with countries like Afghanistan with more of an "Exterminatus" philosophy where we just kill them all rather than this "Hearts and Minds" bullshit that is nothing more than a quick way to get our boys shot by some haji goat fucker after drinking tea with him.

Look at this webm of Dresden. This is what the west was capable of when we actually gave a shit and used our full might, and this was in '45. When was the last time we went all out? We don't even use a fraction of our full potential.

When the world sees what we are fully capable of and these insane handicaps are finally lifted from our military then the entire world will be filled with terror.

As much as I would like to live in a libertarian republic, I feel like it will collapse back into a globalist regime. We all know who pulls the strings with government, lobbyists, banks, and media.

And I see otherwise, I see a nation in clear decline in almost every aspect from politically, socially, financially, militarily and spiritually and won't survive triumph the next big war against the great powers, but broken, defeated and burning like the other nations of the Earth in ruins.

You've had your empire, yet you greed for more saying "this is the beginning of the true America. Imperial America! We are Rome!" This greed will be your downfall like other empires before it, unable to realize it is over until reality of the situation sits in when the Russians are at your bunker, or the barbarians have captured your eternal city.

And who says you'll be this smart when the time comes to fight a true opponent like Russia, China and Iran. Nations with a conventional military's and even the ability to use nuclear weapons if they're truly desperate enough. It seems to me that the military is having problems with politicians like Obama exerting his influence and policy to open it up to all kinds of people and create cohesion issues and weaken its overall efficiency. History has told this story before, except this time the scale will ensure that no one nation is left with anything.

>This greed will be your downfall like other empires before it
Of course the American Empire will fall. All empires eventually fall. That's just the nature of the world and it is necessary that they fall so that humanity does not wallow in a period of endless stagnation, but just as it was for the Roman Republic which was dealing with many of the same issues of decay, the Empire will reinvigorate the US and usher in a period of advancement until it inevitably begins to collapse in on itself within about 150 years.

This is how the cycle goes and we have to see it through to the bitter end, and hopefully we can better preserve the advancements that we make during this period so that the next Dark Age isn't as bad. Empires rise and fall throughout history, that's completely normal, but dark ages aren't normal and we need to attempt to prevent that as much as possible.

There's no way for us to just quietly walk off the stage. If we allow ourselves to fall now then everything collapses and the world descends into chaos. We have to keep maintaining order for as long as possible.

I think what is striking... is that in both times now and then the Jews were behind the corruption of the republic. sends shivers down my spine to realize the uniformity of the threat and machinations of the jews

"Softly! Softly! I want none but the judges to hear me. The Jews have already gotten me into a fine mess, as they have many other gentleman. I have no desire to furnish further grist for their mills." - Cicero

Look, I agree with Sowell on a lot of things, but the only reason he’s as respected as he is is because he’s black, and to find an even semi-aware or intelligent black is a remarkable and cherished thing.
