Apparently Dan Schneider is super creepy to all the kids from those TV Shows he produces. There's a bunch of theories/gossip surrounding it, and some things are confirmed (one of his former stars was building a lawsuit at one point), but most of it is conjecture and hearsay.
There's also, related (like they were in the same 4chan post saw, or something), he may have been in a plot to swap Miley Cyrus out for a new person or something like that.

    She was born in 1993 which means from 2009-2013 when the show aired she would have been 16-19, so technically no, she would have been the age of consent in most of the US. But still, the uneven power relationship between her producer and her makes it creepy.
    EDIT: although in CA where this was probably filmed age of consent is 18, so actually she was legally "underage" for most of the show, and played a young teenager on the show... so really it's toeing the line of what would be considered creepy and inappropriate.

        There was one episode I remember where the plot was that the whole gang goes to the beach, and Arianna Grande leaves the bus first to use the bathroom. When she leaves, all the other people are stuck on the bus because someone's car is blocking the door. They spend the episode roasting in the van until the end. The creepy part comes with Ariana outside the bus. After she used the bathroom, she runs into some dudes at the beach AND SPENDS THE NEXT HALF HOUR BEING CREEPED ON BY THEM. Like every scene with them is super sensual and maeks no attempt to hide that those guys were trying to get into her pants.

              I wish I could remember anything specific but it was so long ago. It really was a whole vibe though. There were a lot of comments about how cute all the girls looked and maybe the copious smileys made it seem less flattering and more grimy. I'm sure plenty of people read them without thinking they were creepy but I would always get the "oooooooo I don't think this is good" vibe from them.

              To be the devil's advocate, these twitter feeds are usually run by some marketing person and probably never the producer or show runner. And it does fit in with some of the humor of the show.
              Until anything substantial comes out, I view Dan the same as JM Barrie. He is really a big kid himself and having that sort of personality as an adult will always start rumors.
