ridiculously reactionary conservative

This is a meme. Trump is a moderate conservative, maybe even a centrist, in most areas. he doesn't all of the sudden become "reactionary" because you're not a fan of him, that's not how the label "reactionary" works.

He wants to get rid of loopholes that help the “very rich” and “special interests" hide their taxes in offshore havens. He’s against foreign “sweatshops” that steal American jobs. He backs “prevailing wages” for U.S. positions filled by foreigners with special H-1B visas. He wants to rebuild America’s infrastructure, a job that could cost hundreds of billions of tax dollars. “No more sweatshops or pollution havens stealing jobs from American workers,” says the Trump campaign website in a clarion call for “fair trade.” This is the same argument that Sanders is making. Trump is stlll backing a proposal to create a national health-care system similar to one offered to federal employees that is government run -- does that sound reactionary to you?

By the way, one of the most socially liberal counties in the world, Sweden, just decided to build a wall and shut down the border it shares with Denmark because of the influx of migrants. Left and right isn't so cut and dry.

There's more to left/right than economics and I agree, compared to many of the Republican hopefuls he's quite economically centrist. He'll in terms of some stuff (abortion, Gay marriage, ect) he's quite moderate too.

But, the things that Trump is known for and the things both he and the media have put the most emphasis on is his approach to minority groups. His take on women varies from laughable to ridiculously outdated. His immigration policy is both ridiculous and quite literally insane. His populist calls for militancy and a hyper vigilant American presence abroad are genuinely terrifying, as is his approach to Muslims. All in all he has a lot of the "Far Right Populist" traits that make certain people so scary.

A lot of the "liberal" things youve suggested hell do are also very vague and downplayed suggestions. His right wing policies are clearly laid out and stressed enormously.

Just Google George Wallace, Enoch Powell, Marine Le Pen, Hughy Long, Golden Dawn and yes, if you really want to go there, Hitler, Mosley and Mussolini too. The scapegoating, flexible/populist economic promises and clear "us and them" message is a consistent trait among these leaders and honestly I think "Reactionary" is the perfect term for it.

(Also the sweatshop stuff is total BS, he sells products under his own name made in Chinese and South East Asian Sweatshops and has for years)

I'm Swedish. Compared to any of our parties even Obama is conservative.

Also, we didn't build a wall or "shut down" our borders. We built a tiny fence between the rails on the train station and introduced ID-checks at the border. That's hardly closing the borders, so quit your bullshit.

any of our parties

Wrong, the the Sweden Democrats are nationalistic and anti-immigration, they are literally more conservative than the Republican party and they are 15% of your legislature and growing. They are literally nationalistic. Cute lie though, Sweden.

hardly closing

Checking IDs for everyone who passes is closing down your border. You are preventing migrants from coming through; that is something that Trump advocates for, it's just hard when it's so many miles long, and so it can't just be a tiny fence and armed guards.

Nationalistic and anti-immirgration, yes. More conservative than the republican party? lolno.

They're pro choice, pro welfare, neither pro or anti gay (they say that they do not consider it a political question) and against the death penalty. That's more than what you can say about the republicans. Never thought I would defend SD, but I'm glad that they're not even close to the republican party. Hell, I'd even argue that they're more liberal than all but the united states most progressive Democrats.

First of all, the border controls are temporary due to the crisis and won't last forever. Secondly, only migrants without IDs are stopped. We're still accepting migrants who has the right to to apply for asylum in Sweden.

EDIT: Also, the immigration policies that SD wants aren't even close to the harsh immigration policies that the US already got in place.

neither pro or anti gay

Well, they think it's best for children to be raised in a traditional nuclear family. They think those raised by their biological parents should have the right to associate or at least find out about who their real parents are. They are against government sanctioned adoption and insemination to single people, same-sex couples and polyamorous relationships unless the adopting party are close relatives or already have a close relationship with the child.

pro-welfare

They've very blunt when they say that the welfare policies are too lax, especially related to immigrants.

the harsh immigration policies that the US already got in place.

We have millions of undeported people in the US, our policy isn't harsh
