SPOLIERS

maybe

This guy makes me wonder how many other African American Storm Troopers there have been. They always wear helmets, so you never know, right? There could be Asians or Indians or even Star-Wars specific ethnicities (you and I would probably call them aliens).

other African American Storm Troopers

He's English...

In a galaxy far far away, people still say African-American...

He was talking in the context of the Star Wars universe, so he obviously meant African Imperial.

But you can't say black because it's accurate and storm troopers wouldn't know anything about being accurate.

(Someone is about to go off about them being accurate in the films and missing on purpose)

We say "black".

My wife tries to be PC and says "colored" I keep telling her that's probably worse.

Yes. That is much worse. Black is preferable.

To he fair, the PC term seems to change every few years.

I'm not sure about the First Order but I remember the Empire was xenophobic, so all their troops had to be humans. I'd assume the First Order would take up a similar ideology.

Asians and Indians are people too

sorry juan no aliens allowed...

Also, they were clones, weren't they? So not a whole lot of diversity there...

All clones were retired after the clone wars and replaced with volunteers (and drafted people) after the clone wars ended. They were retired for following reasons:

  • Kamino did it as a business with the Republic, so Clones weren't exactly cheap. Breeding a clone is more expensive than training a normal soldier. Kamino was in it for the money, not because they were part of the Republic.

  • You don't need battle hardened soldiers for simple garrison and policing duty. 99.9% of Stormtroopers would probably never see battle in their lifetime.

  • Clones aged twice as fast as normal people, so not good if you want people with long years of experience. By the time of the Star Wars Rebels CG show (15 years after Ep. III) the Clone Troopers of the Clone Wars are now ~60 year old men.

  • If your friend Jerry from next door serves in the empire you are more likely going to like the Empire as well

  • The initial samples from Jango Fett were running out and cloning from clones for a prolonged times leads to more and more deformities.

After order 66 they stopped manufacturing clones and eventually retired those that remained in favor of recruitment. They considered clones obsolete.

The Empire stopped using clones after Kamino's cloning facilities rebelled. Of course this EU information, so take it with a grain of salt.

Empire didn't use clones. Clones were phased out after order 66.

With the exception of the 501st, of course.

They explained briefly in the movie that they were more or less indoctrinated since birth and instilled with unwavering loyalty and obedience. At least it seemed that's where they come from now.

Yo man, just say Black. African American is more racist.

That's a new one for me. More racist? Ignorant when the person isn't actually American, but otherwise how is it more racist? Especially when most people who say it, say it because they were taught early in their lives that 'Black' is more racist than 'African American'?

[–]Nozkin 1

Who cares? Why's it such a big deal to some people?
