I have a dude on my facebook who wan'ts to be a cop, and I think he is currently an armed security guard. He literally posts stuff saying he wants to shoot/kill muslims. Somehow hasn't gotten in any legal trouble, and maintains relationships with police. The dudes pretty much your stereotypical crazy right winger, except he is gay, but he hates trannies and thinks that they should be killed as well.
That's quite the little niche he's carved out for himself, there. I'm picturing a fabulous gay hitler.

In my facebook I get bombarded with Sanders and occupydemocrats spam everyday. I swear their shitposts are buzzfeed level bad. Just today I was in an argument with someone who shared one of these shitposts because I was so tired of seeing this bullshit on the front page.
Also, the Donald Trump = Hitler comparisons are unironically being posted, oh and by the way I saw someone yesterday write off the Refugee rape of cologne as Germany's fault for not integrating them well or something.
Facebook looks like Democratic Underground for me, a bunch of blue pilled SJW's whining about what offends them more and how everyone who isn't a red blooded communist is evil and should be executed.

I've never lived in Texas, but I've spent some time there. The stereotype of the "Texas right winger" is a very real thing, and it is scary as fuck. Not everyone is like that, of course, but some are.
Hell, I live in Colorado now and it is very much a thing. You'd think a state with legal Marijuana wouldn't be so uptight.
They are super common if you live in a conservative area. I'm from suburban Texas, and I can confirm that these sorts of views are totally normal. I live in Northern California now, and I wouldn't believe these people were common if I hadn't met so many already.

About a week ago I saw someone on reddit claim that right wingers were complaining about Paul Ryan's beard, claiming it was "Muslimish." I spend a decent amount of time browsing conservative leaning subreddits and websites, and I talk to other conservative minded people regularly but that was my first and only time hearing about his beard lol.
Do you converse with people older than 55 on a regular basis? If not that might be why. Members of my family who represent the right wing are all older than I am. I am an only child in a family filled with ultra conservatives and borderline tea-party nutters. Meanwhile I just try to keep an open mind and take this sort of stuff as it comes to me.

They were actually one of the best sources for news coming out of the Islamic world because they actually had contacts there which most US organizations lack.
When CNN sends someone to a Muslim country, they never see the outside of a four-star hotel or some fake-shit their fixers send them out to - it's all contrived.
Al Jazeera could get stories from places US journalists wouldn't or couldn't go.

Just check his/her post history, that's all you need to see to understand this nut.
No, we need to just deport anyone who doesn't belong in Germany in the first place. The normal, decent, civilized, law-biding Germans don't do this sort of shit in thousand man gangs. You should know that the People's Republic of Californica doesn't recognize those outdated "Constitutional" rights. Only the made up feelgood bullshit of the left really matters, not that silly old document. But the UK cops won't touch it because stopping Muslim men from engaging in rampant pedophilia and child sex slavery is... gasp... racist! PC needs to die, or your countries will.

And that is just a quick pull from their history.
The channel was horribly biased. They were a mouthpiece for the Qatari government, like Russia Today is for the Kremlin.

Much worse. A large portion of the broadcast day is usually dedicated to apologetics for Islam in many ways. Significant amounts of Israel bashing as well.
It's basically the Qatari royal family's own personal propaganda channel. How it ever got here is a mystery to me.

That's as valuable as anything else practically. Seeing the narrative of the bias's of others can be as valuable as objective news, which by the way doesn't exist.
It's all subjective.

Then the news shouldn't exist. Reporting objectively should be Job 1. Journalistic ethics shouldn't be a punchline.

[–]techsupport_rekall [スコア非表示] 44分前 (0子コメント)
Bullllllshiiiiiiiit.
It's mostly TechKnow, which is a decent science program, Ali Velshi talking stocks and world politics, and Soledad O'Brien at clearly the happiest point in her life, filming documentaries about how horrible people's lives are.
And that one documentary about the jewel thief. They replay the shit out of that one.
Oh, and sometimes they show Palestinians as actual people. Which is kinda weird and new for Americans. It's clear there's some bias there, but at the same time I've never seen Netanyahu caricatured as pure evil on the channel, either.

Can you conservativesplain to me how the Secretary of State has any power over FIFA? or do you mean in general America allying with Qatar? Because that goes back a long time, America built a military base there in 2003 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Udeid_Air_Base and Qatar is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas, a big ally for the western world. CENTCOM I believe is headquartered in Qatar that is the most important base in the region. So the regimes are closely aligned whether anyone likes it or not. What specifically did Hillary give Qatar? Can you conservativesplain please.
It's strange to see people ignorant of politics learn things about how politics works and mistake it for corruption of some sort. Politically connected people exchange emails and phone calls and meet with each other, lobby on behalf of governments and businesses, welcome to politics, too bad you never paid attention in high school classes.

It could be true. Al Jazeera is a propaganda channel run by Qatar to bolster its government. The American branch is an attempt to spread pro-Qatar views in to the English speaking world. Similar to RT for Russia, or Radio Free Europe for the US. Given the crazy lower viewership they must have been spending a lot of money keeping it a float. With the oil prices down they may have concluded that the money isn't worth the small number of viewers they are influencing.

Its predictable statement reveals the ill-thought debate around the Cologne attacks, which has little to do with protecting women and more to do with scapegoating the Middle Eastern or North African “other” entering Germany. The response should instead focus on tackling the patriarchal context from which such violations against women’s bodies systematically spring, as well as caring for victims.

Embarrassingly stupid.

That's an opinion piece. Every news website has them.
Thats an opinion article. And it doesn't change the fact that they did indeed report the assaults on multiple other occasions.

Embarrassingly stupid is that you mistake news for opinion.
You do know the word "opinions" is in the URL, right?
Meanwhile, all the articles in the parent comment (except 1) is in their news, articles, or watch section.
Seems to me Al Jazeera isn't the one who's

I agree. I have access to both their 'International' and 'America' channels. I like them both (from time to time when I listen to news), they're far better than CNN or BBC International.

When I was first heard of Al Jazeera was right after 9/11 and I thought they were Al Qaeda's like personal news network, lol. Even after I knew they weren't, I always associated them with evil for no good reason.
They were smeared a lot by the American right wing. After the U.S. invaded Iraq, instead of focusing coverage on the glorious liberators (the American soldiers), Al Jazeera instead reported on children who died in bombings, torture at Abu Ghraib and other prisons, and general ongoing violence. The Fox News types saw this as a betrayal after we brought Iraq the gift of American Freedom. That's why Al Jazeera still has a bad reputation, at least in the U.S.
This is actually quite annoying to hear. Probably one of the few legitimate news channels. They also had really great informational pieces in general.
This is more about the US saying no to Qatar than it is to a network nobody domestically has any interest in.

Sorry for all those that lost their jobs. The good news is Al Jazeera English will no longer be blocked in the US. I should be able to live stream Al Jazeera English again

Just think about all of those oil dollars that they gave to Al Gore to buy his channel. All for nothing.
That's too bad. It is the best cable news channel in America. They are generally way more unbiased than any of the other outlets.
Which is really unfortunate. All their stuff that wasn't about Muslims was pretty unbiased. A much better source than NBC, FOX, or CNN.

Any idea if we'll be able to watch online again? They cut their stream for the U.S. once their cable network went online.
I’m surprised by the reported lack of ratings. On weekends I’d use the Verizon fios app to see what others are watching and Al Jazeera news was frequently in the top 10. Far behind Fox News but there were definitely thousands watching. They’d have interesting programs showing the draught in Cali, police troubles, and other domestic concerns the other news channels wouldn’t mention.
Al Jazeera Media plans to expand its "international digital services to broaden its multi-platform presence in the United States," Souag wrote.
The closure of their cable news outlet will not affect their business overall in America. In fact, they plan to grow their footprint in the US, regardless of this TV news shut-down.I
Al Jazeera America, the American cable news outlet owned by Qatar-based Al Jazeera, plans to shut down less than three years after its much-ballyhooed launch, unable to overcome low ratings, operational problems and a lack of advertisers.
All that ballhoo for nothing.
I don't particularly care about Al Jazeera itself but I do wish they'd been more successful here. Then, maybe, some of the other more popular networks would have copied their less bombastic style. Their going down probably vindicates the LOUD NOISES style of their rivals

Al Jazeera was criticized for its anti-Western and anti-Semitic bias. "Al Jazeera officials have denied consistently that the company was anti-Western". Maybe just an error in editing. Then again, maybe not.
