Well, no.
Most people are a product of their enviornment. The majority leftists I know are:
Young and educated. Aside from the actual education they get, they also geet indoctrinated in certain things.
They aren't rich so they never really learned the value of of having. Their parents earned their paychecks, and they lived well. Not rich, but wealthy enough to have an okay house, a car, vacations. The middle class. With their nice lives, they see no problem in giving, especially given the propaganda of all the people who suffer around the world. Altruism is deeply encouraged and seen as a fundamental values in Western culture.
They never faced anything outside of what they have seen-other middle class, good people. This is why they are so compassionate. Just like their father who helped his neighbour and vice-versa. They have no reason to believe there are bad people, because all they have seen are good people
Years of propaganda have convinced them that really, we are all the same. And their parents never really cared. They got home from work and their biggest joy was seeing their daughter happy, giving everything they have for her sake. Why would they explain politics to her? As a teenager she/he will be indoctrinated and will literally despise his/her parents, ready to be on the contrary of everything they stand for. Because they love their kid, they will keep providing for a generation of consumers, filled with bad ideas and rotten world views. Because teenagers and young adults are emotionally unstable, they will refuse facts. Even if presented with authentic information they will deny until the truth bites them in the ass.
Now, all of a sudden come the problems. The middle class gets decapitated by taxes, jobs are becoming less, crime rises. But the media continues spewing shit. Because their parents are good people they will give everything for their children. They will live in misery so their kid is happy. Of course, the kid never sees those sacrifices. At the age of about 30, they have finished their education and their parents are now unable to keep providing for them. They exit their homes and universities, safe spaces. Up until this point everyone is an intelligent, tolerant, loving, lefitist. It takes an exceptional individual to see through the charade if he was brought up in there conditions.
They are young idealists until that point. They see the world the way they want to, not the way it is. Because in their world, everything is perfect.
And now comes a reality check. Here, people will spread in two groups depending on their charecter and intelligence. When you are 30 years old, you are in the begining of your productive life. You go from consumer to provider. The facts will be all around them. The more flexible and intelligent ones, will, at this point, understand how things actually are.
The more stupid and bigoted ones will cling to their ideology as hard as they can, going to extreme lenghts to protect it-this is the loud minorityy that will start to get involved in politics, media and jurisdiction-those high ranking professions will be available to them because of the education, meanwhile, the people who never had the chance to study will remain workers, and very few of them will rise to the elite. They will be unable to give up on their views, because they are what defines them as what they are. They will defend what they believe in with amazing passion, because at this point their existance is centered around their political beliefs. They will not have children, they will dedicate their life to themselves and their ideas. They will have nothing to lose so they will succeed as it often happens. Their lives will be dedicated to defending what they are at the expense of others, something they themselves will not realize. They will also develop a superiority complex, because if we ignore reality(which is what they do), their views are morally superior, they will also see themselves as more intelligent, because they are told they are(which is also quite ironic, considering they are being taken for fools and are being lied to).
The silent majority will see the truth but will remain silent. They will be happy with their job and family and won't speak out against the system, because they will be afraid of losing their job, family, friends. This will go on until everything they have is lost. Until the benefits of their middle class are exhausted and their security is compromised(we are in the process of that). Then, they will speak out. But time is needed. Because people are egoistic, they will cling on to what they have until it is taken from them. This is the fear that elite has imposed on the person because the people have the power and controlling people is best done through fear or love. Since people like Merkel are unable to generate love, they will generate fear.
And here, we have the elite. Rich people have no race or religion, they are rich. Stealing people's money, and inviting immigrants make them richer. Their egoism is at it's peak. Immigrants will bring lower wages, but the elite doesn't care, because they will be the ones paying the lower wages. They don't care about middle class Hans, Francesco, John and Sven. Sue those guys will get poorer, but the respectable senators Muller, Rossi, Riley and Johansson will be getting richer. Because wealth doesn't disappear. It will just switch pockets. It will make the middle class poorer and the upper class richer.
Meanwhile, until the middle class is fed up, there will be more crime and poverty. Until the silent majority refuses to take it anymore. Sadly, until that happens, there will be many, many immigrants, and many indoctrinated Europeans that will keep fighting for what they believe in to the last drop. At this point, we are looking at conflict, even armed conflict.
This is the situation.
TL;DR: Read it, it's worth it.
Edit: In retrospect, maybe I should have made this a separate post but oh well.
Edit 2: Oh boy, reddit gold! I've never had it so far. Thank you kind stranger!
