> Background
Following the Syrian civil war and the rise of Islamic State there has been a lot of refugees of war seeking shelter. This has caused an influx of migrants to nearby countries and with it associated political drama.

and other relevant subs and been a hotbed of immigration posts. Tensions have been rising but it was only gunpowder. The spark was yet to come.
> The Attacks
On New Years Eve in Cologne there were a series of sexual assaults of women by men of reportedly Arab or North African appearance. The scale of the event shocked Germany and the news quickly spread across European news outlets. Unfortunately the delay between German reporting and English language stories meant that many people putting stories through Google translate saw "a crowd of 1,000 people" as "a group of 1,000 Arabs".

/r/worldnews
Multiple submissions
were made from various news outlets to the sub, with all of them at first being deleted under 'Not Appropriate Subreddit'. Seeing as sexual assault isn't usually world news material their deletion was understandable but equally, given the ethnicity of the perpetrators, there will be wider consequences making it world news. Users reacted to the deletions angrily and when submissions finally made it through the comments became a
nuked grave. /pol/ has been descending on Reddit threads wherever it can on this issue so threads have been either exploding with comments or being nuked and locked.

It's
spilled over to /r/outoftheloop
where, as of now, the
top comment
is telling users that /r/conservative or /pol/ is the best place to discuss this. Any dissenting comments are being downvoted and claims of SJW, failed multiculturalism and conspiracies are ripe. It's likely the thread will be nuked when more mods wake up so
here's an archive.
