Former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul made a fundraising pitch for his son’s struggling campaign days ahead of the year-end fundraising deadline.
The former Texas senator — who ran for president in 1988, 2008 and 2012 — recorded an audio message on Twitter for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) encouraging supporters to donate to the Kentucky senator’s campaign before the Dec. 31 deadline.

Paul has been suffering in national polls, lagging behind in the single-digits. He was almost relegated to the most recent undercard debate, but CNN tweaked its debate rules at the last minute.
The next GOP debate on Jan. 14 may have as few as six candidates on the prime-time stage, with Paul again in danger of being left off. He said last week he won’t participate in the undercard debate if he doesn’t make the main debate hosted by Fox Business Network.
