Thoughts on the "Daily Liberty Digest" (DLD) as a new landing site‏

Greetings fellow liberty lovers, activists, and truth seekers alike. I have recently learned that Michael is finally hanging up his hat as the proprietor of Popular Liberty and wants to move on. I completely respect his decision and have always told him that "if it was robbing him of his joy or sanity to just let it go." As most of you know, Michael has put in countless hours of dedication to his contribution towards making an impact on not just individual lives and liberty, but the world as a whole. He is a kind hearted intelligent man, a very talented writer, and an out of the box thinker. That is a rare commodity these days.
He's also been a generous friend. I still have some of his homemade soap that he sent me and I think of him occasionally when I'm in the shower and see the small remaining bar..o_0..(insert awkwardness here) And, even though we haven't always seen eye to eye on a couple of things, the bottom line is that were all on the same side, and his sincerity and generosity outweigh any disagreements by a long shot.. His contributions will not soon be forgotten. Hopefully they will continue at some point, just in a different capacity.

I've given some thought to this development, and I just can't sit back and let this wonderful group of people that has essentially coalesced under the banner of truth be scattered to the four winds. Ron Paul spoke (and still speaks) truth to power that attracted us to this site in the first place, and I believe it is crucial that the efforts that he and others have made not go to waste. I have made some lifetime friends here, learned so much over the course of roughly eight years during my involvement, and I am truly grateful to Michael for providing the opportunity to do that.

So, I am currently talking with Zak Carter and Ben Swann's folks to create a new forum where we can can gather and hopefully continue this struggle to seek and speak truth to power with this amazingly powerful medium of the internet.
Aligning with Ben and his crew's efforts seems like the most natural and logical progression from here. I have felt like there are really no other forums that fit my liking and I still want to have a place to gather, discuss, and throw monkey wrenches into the cogs of tyranny, with familiar folks and similar values. They already have the infrastructure in place and a "fearless" attitude toward seeking and speaking truth. I have been assured that it will be a safe place to discuss a variety of subjects with the ability to seek the truth on matters no matter how ugly or controversial it may be.

What I have envisioned is the "Daily Liberty Digest" as a hat tip to Michael for what he has started and what I hope will be carried forward. This original effort, combined with the current momentum people like Zak Carter and Ben Swann are creating with the "Truth in Media" and "Global Activist" projects is a no brainer for me. It's not going to be a fan club of any one person, but hopefully a collaboration of ideas and support of those ideas from the vastly diverse and talented people who originally made up the Ron Paul movement, and of course folks who are new to all of this as well. We want new blood because a because new blood brings oxygen and nutrients to help grow the potential of what can be achieved. I also hope that it will be a magnifying glass that occasionally focuses all of the scattered rays of light (us) and focuses them on a particular area with laser precision. That focused effort could manifest itself in a variety of ways, whether it's putting pressure on a handful of so called "representatives" to support legislation, a police department for holding a certain officer accountable, or even praising their Constitutional actions when warranted. It could also be focused to promote our own efforts of citizen investigative journalism and media creations that need to get out in the public discourse.

The possibilities are endless when you check your apathy and ego at the door and put your shoulder to the wheel. I have always been impressed by the creativity and guerrilla style activism that made the Daily Paul and the Ron Paul movement a force to be reckoned with.

In a brief piece I banged out on the DP titled "DP the mouse that roared," I referred to how the founders of this nation had many diverse interests and perspectives, but they all came together for a common cause, a cause that eventually became the birth and framework of this country. I believe the same can be achieved with this new project where we can respect diverging interests and points of view, but agree to come together for a common cause. That common cause (for me) is TRUTH. Truth about myself, my community, my nation, current events, and the world as a whole. How have we let the societal engineers take a word as important as "truth" and weaponize it against us in the form of the term "truther?!" I for one am proud to seek truth in my life and the world around me, and I am certainly not going to be ashamed of it. That's why the "Truth in Media" effort seems like the natural choice to align with.

The hour is late, and I'm sure we probably wont be able to elect a President (if they are still even elected) or stop WWIII, but we are in an information war, and it is vital (imo) that we help awaken as many people as possible so that we can counter the deception, divisiveness and polarization of our societies. As Ron Paul has said, "once you learn the truth, you have an obligation to do something about it." Let us not shirk our responsibility, but embrace it as we move forward. I'm not saying drop all other responsibilities and work at this full time like Ben and Zak and others are doing, but do what we can with what we have, when we can. "Many hands make light work."

So the floor is open for discussion, ideas, offers of help support, etc. My main hope is that this will have Michael's blessing and that he will be supportive of it and maybe even contribute some of his great writing as a fellow member once he's had a chance to detach, rest, and regroup if he so chooses. If people are responsive to this idea and want to move forward to maintain and grow the community and activism, then I hope Michael will at least write an email to all of the former and current members and let them know he approves of this endeavor. I hope to see the likes of Tom Woods, to Adam Kokesh, and all of the others that make this movement what it is contributing ideas and efforts to bring the public consciousness to a higher level. Diverse interests and levels of commitment coming together for a common cause and using this machinery to become a virus in the matrix of lies and deception is something that they fear and want to control. They want you to feel alone, and insignificant, and like you can't make a difference. I beg to differ.

"Dissent is the greatest form of patriotism." Thomas Jefferson

I can only do and commit to so much as my life has taken a different direction from politics and discussion forums after 2012, but I have agreed to do what I can to try and keep a pulse going. Your input and help is essential to the success of this if ANY is to be had at all.

I wish you all peace, prosperity, and at the very least safety in this most certainly uncertain coming new year.

PS and Michael, if you're reading this. I love you man. You've done a good thing here. Don't get discouraged. I'm sorry for being out of touch. It is my fault and I take full responsibility. I hope you are doing well in your new endeavors.

At +43, with more comments added today, I'm at a loss to understand why this got buried. It was just posted yesterday and there are others on the list posted before this one was. What am I missing?

I've been (mostly) lurking for a while and appreciate the minds and souls that have been coming to DP and PL, and am willing to donate the domain to the cause. I also own evidencethatexists.com for a potential offshoot of research material.

Yes, yes, oh, I almost forgot... YES

Maybe Global Liberty Daily (GLD). It can focus on liberty around the world. Plus it acronyms gold.

Let's do it Between first the Daily Paul and now Popular Liberty, these sites have been my "Homepage" for 8 years and 7 months collectively. I've made friends, been to rallies, held signs and banners over Interstate Highways and on busy street corners, plastered the storefront of my business with Ron Paul R∃VO<û>UTION

I'm in, go for it.

more appropriate? After all, most of us here love to upset our tummies with indignation. Or how about Daily Injection of Liberty Destroying Occurrences (DILDO)?

Seriously though, good idea, Jefferson.

It has been a while but sometimes life does that to you. I'm glad you seem to be doing well. Still plan on making that trip out one day. May be a while though since Susan and I are now purchasing the bike shop. Most sure fire way to stop riding motorcycles is to buy the shop. Lol!

Probably want to get the domain... Or did you get dld.com or...?

If it can be done in the same format with an ability to express opinion and thought without being tied to some outside "account" such as disqus.com or other highly monitored systems, I'm all for it. Everybody must have the ability to write articles about anything from innovations to hard core liberty philosophy. Individuality should be ecouraged and emphasized.

I would be so happy to have a forum that continues spreading truth with people I have come to know and love.

I have NO ability to understand anything having to do with what makes a website function. Kind of like my car, I just want to turn the key and have it run, but all those greasy shapes under the hood are a mystery to me.

But I will await with baited breath to see if this gets off the ground.

Thanks again!!

always been fond of Zac and the gang

Seems a natural shift to me

Honestly, I don't care what it's called

I just want to have a home with people like the people here and at the DP.

I hope it's a kind of forum to navigate easily that also allows people to interact in different ways.

Also, hopefully a place where people can post all sorts of random stuff...because I think a lot of us have a wide array of interests.

I like to talk about, read and post things that are interesting to me...regardless of the subject.

Thanks Jefferson

Because being on the site makes me lounge more than I probably should. I'm just so comfortable here.
Thank you to all who are working on getting us a new home. I'm not text savvy, or even post a lot, but I would surely miss all of you.

... ;-)

In truth, Jefferson, count me in, even when pitching in becomes collective kitsching in ... But then we'll find I'm usually out..., but looking in.

I've missed you and many others of the old gang, Jefferson. I'll hang out at the new pub with whoever shows up.

Here's some Old School 'Troof'n I just knew you'd enjoy. For old times sake:

there stranger. I've been meaning to write and see how things were going, but I don't like saying that to people. The truth is I've just gotten sidetracked and life somehow provides a distraction. I have a long time friend who always says "You've been on my list of people to call" when I finally call to check on him after so much time has passed. I know he's probably bs'ing me but he means well and I'm sure he thinks of me, which is enough.. I do think of you often. I have a few of your old emails in my cluttered inbox of roughly 2000. (98% of which need to be deleted)
I was thinking of you also when writing this post. I miss reading your "treasure hunt" type responses that force one to dig a little deeper than the surface and pay attention. I hope you are well sir and enjoying a fine cigar wherever you are. I figured if you were going to be in the neighborhood you would have let me know. It's good to know that you support this idea and will be a part of it if/when it comes to fruition. If it doesn't (which I doubt) I will still keep in touch anyway. I wish I could tell people more about who you are and what your experience is so they know how blessed we are to have your company, but I will respect your privacy..
I would write more replies to the great responses below, but I must get up at 5am to go fishing with a professional guide who has offered me a free trip on his boat. I'm pretty stoked about it and don't know if I'll be able to sleep. But I will log in here over the next several days until they turn the lights off.
And to those who may be reading that have made suggestions below, the name is not set in stone. It was just an idea that will have to be approved by people other than myself most likely. Hopefully zak will pass along the suggestions and they can decide from there. I am just a conduit at this point and thought it would be a nice hat tip to the one who started it all... Thanks for the positive responses so far.
Goodnight..

I'm fine with Daily Liberty Digest but I figured I'd just throw out some competition for the name and suggest Liberty Herald (or Daily Liberty Herald, but I think a two word name is better) especially if it's working with Ben Swann since he's absolutely a herald for liberty!

Daily Liberty Digest sounds perfect. The concept sounds great.

This board and its members should definitely *not* be scattered completely, and ideally should evolve into a new and even broader, stronger base.

Associating it somehow with Ben Swann's projects and community would be HUGE. It would expose the board to a lot of the kinds of people that might want to participate.

(reading some comments below): That said, I have never worked with Ben and some other people here say they have actual insight into how that might actually work out.

I've worked with Ben Swann and his people. I consider myself a Ben Swann expert and devoted years to him with love. I am here for him. However, based on what I know, I think merging with Ben Swann and his projects is not the #1 best to keep what members seem to want.

And I know a caring member owns 2 Daily Liberty domains for the site I'm helping to create if we want to use them.

Just my input.

I think a forum at Ben Swann's site sounds like a perfect home for truth and liberty to grow and flourish, and Jefferson is an old school Daily Paul'er and has made a great case for working with Ben Swann and his team in this post. Plus, they have all of the technical know how needed to run a great website

And I said what I needed to say.

Thanks for the embellishments and for being rude. I know the truth. You don't need to sell ME. Members want more than truth 'n liberty, they want DP/PL.

Attitudes/words like yours is what brings problems.

"not the #1 best to keep what members seem to want."

Is NOT speaking for yourself.

and you're still doing it. "Members want more" I'm a member, and stop trying to lump me in with what you think I want. I didn't intend to come off as rude, I just don't like being lumped into a group, we believe in individual liberty, right?
