Sashi.Co について（日本語）
Sashi.Co is a brand name for a team of two Sashiko enthusiasts, Atsushi and Keiko Futatsuya.
Keiko and her company produce Sashiko Jackets and accessories.
Atsushi introduce her art work and activities to the world.
It is a simple, yet a powerful project operated by a normal mother and son.
We design our life with Sashiko.
The philosophy of Sashiko might design the society, we hope.

Keiko Futatsuya
Sashiko Designer
In Sashi.Co, Keiko is the symbol. Keiko started Sashi.Co, and Sashi.Co represent Kieko’s work and philosophy.
She is in charge of production, designing, and challenging to create something new. Also all of the administrative operations in Japan, such as shipping and handling are her responsibility.
Sashi.Co takes a form of sole proprietorship (as of 2015), and she does pretty much everything.

She studied tailoring and needle-working in the vocational collage. After her graduation, she had worked in a tailor and clothing shop for several years. Then, she started working in Hida Sashiko after she got married to Yuichi Futatsuya.
She had been working in Hida sashiko as the shop manager, the designer, the Sashiko practitioner, and even the accountant for more than 30 years.
When Atsushi returned to Hida Sashiko, she agreed the idea of creating one-of-a-kind product instead of mass produceable commodities.
Her Sashiko jackets become so popular that they barely stayed in the shelf for more than a year.
She is now making her original Sashi.Co Jacket inspired by her wonderful sense of Sashiko design, little by little, all by her (and her friends') hands.
Also, Keiko is interested in techniques of natural dyeing with natural vegetables(dyes). Natural Vegetable Threads by Hida Sashiko were her accomplishment.
In 2014 and 2015, she will try to reproduce the natural dyed thread and fabric so we can enjoy beautiful natural colors.
(*and she succeeded dyeing threads! Fabrics are coming soon!)

ある刺し子専門店の社長だった僕の父親が、他界した日。2013年10月16日。
まだ50代だった父親の急逝。初七日の沈黙の中で、父親の跡を継ぐ覚悟を決めた僕の心構えをあざ笑うかのように、物事は僕のコントロールの及ばない所でどんどんいびつな形を形成していきました。”使命”とか”社会的意義”だとか青臭い言葉を使う僕は、結局の所、自分の望みを実現化するだけの力を持っていないだけの存在で、日本で一番大切な存在である母親と共に、生き甲斐と信じていた会社を離れることになりました。
退職。それまで、事務所で寝るほど仕事を自分の使命と思っていた僕が会社から離れることは、僕の強さや弱さの定義に関わらず、アイデンティティを失ってしまう大きなきっかけになりました。僕は結局、何ができるんだろう。何がしたいんだろうっと。
刺し子と共に過ごした6年間。無駄だったのかと悔やむ日々もありました。
刺し子を見ると苦しくなり、刺し子と聞くだけで息が詰まる。
もう、刺し子をすることはないんだろうなっと思っていました。それだけの痛みを受け、その傷は一生癒すことはできないと思っていたのです。
ただ……唯一、その傷を癒すことができる人が、僕に一言だけ呟いてくれたのです。
ただ一人、僕と同じ境遇を共有する、母親からの言葉でした。
"「刺し子に向き合って」、なんて簡単には言えないけれど、私は、やっぱり刺し子が好き。刺し子に恩を感じている。だから、やっぱり会社から離れても、刺し子を続けたい。淳がどう思うかはわからないけれど、もし可能であれば、その私の『好きなことを思いっきり試すことができる刺し子』を応援してほしい。多くの人に知ってもらって、海外の人たちにも応援してもらう。そんな私なりの刺し子ができれば、それが私の生き甲斐になると思うから。”
”お金の為だけじゃない。生活を守る為だけじゃない。刺し子の作品を作ることが好きだから、作る。淳は淳の道を行けばいい。その上で、人生の少しでいいから時間を分けてもらえると有り難いです。”
泣きました。
下手なりに会社を守ろうとした父親を思い出して。
なんとかしようとし続けた母親を思い出して。
そして、やっぱり僕は、僕たちは刺し子から離れる事はできないんだっと再認識して。
僕は違う道を進み始めてしまっている為、この新しい形の刺し子に人生の全てを捧げることはできません。
それでも、刺し子が好きで刺し子を一生続けたいという母親の力にはなれるはずです。
昔のことはこれ以上は書きません。
母親が刺し子作品を作り、僕が世界に紹介する。
そんなシンプルな物語の始まりです。
