Europeans are historically very nationalistic. Its traditional for them to be very condescending towards competitors. Just a culture thing, don't hold it against them.

Usually not commenting on these NA vs EU debates, but if you're explaining the NA-hate on Europes culture being nationalistic, then you're really not far away from argueing like the small group of nationalistic people here do, who think stereotypes are facts that permit antipathy against certain other cultues. Also keep in mind that a large part of US-citizens would also be historically very nationalistic by that logic (which I guess in some cases is actually being overly visible right now #vote4trump)
